T&T always always has whole cryovac'd ribeye, striploin, and tenderloin on sale for peanuts, but the insanely low prices reflect low quality... not even AA. Whether that matters depends on what you're doing with it, I suppose.

thx mooshmouse, I'll definitely check out beefway meats.

Ya Nick I've seen T&T's whole cryovac'd ribeyes, and its true the quality is pretty appalling. I am looking for at least a AAA and hopefully prime grade beef.

I just didn't understand why costco was selling their untrimmed AAA whole ribeyes at $15 per Kg, that is like $34 per pound! most butchers sell their AAA cut, preped and portioned rib steaks for only 20 bucks a pound. how can an unpreped product of the same grade be so much more expensive? i was hoping to save money to cut my own steaks and perhaps age it myself. costco's price is pretty crazy high.

$15/kg = $6.80/lb
as there are 2.2 pounds per kilo.

Costco sells AAA and Canadian Prime beef often for less than I can buy wholesale. Quality, at least at the Langford store, is consistently outstanding.

I've just purchased a whole lamb direct from the farmer (all butchered the way I wanted). Works out at $6/lb for all cuts. That's rack and legs at $6/lb as well as mince. Stunning price.

Next I'm going to purchase a 1/4 or 1/2 a cow. I hope to achieve simialr savings.

I believe buying direct from the producer in bulk is the best of all worlds. You build a relationship with the farmer; the middle person is cut out of the deal; it supports local food production; and you can achiebve unbeatable prices. Win win I say.

I'm trying to track down a snack food called JOHN WM. MACEY'S CHEESE CRISPS.

Any idea where they're available in the Vancouver or Vancouver Island area?

I have a GIANT bag on my counter! Go to Costco, snacks aisle. The one in Richmond or Grandview Hwy should have it.

Any Asian market. Give T&T a try, in the condiments aisle.
