Charlie asked for some sourdough French bread to eat with some brie I had in the refrigerator. I guess I had the oven set a little too high. Even though I cooked it to 190º, it came out browner than usual and almost burnt on the bottom. I trimmed off the bottom before we had it.  Charlie also ordered out for dinner. He ordered Chicken Tandoori. I didn't take pictures of it. It came with some sauces,  rice pilaf and some kind of flat bread.

New Zealand lamb, roasted (I prefer Colorado or any of the really good stuff that we can't necessarily get w/o jumping through a few small hoops). Basmati saffron rice pilaf, which I could've done a better job fluffing. Also, here's a dish (the rice) where I used water, when stock would've made it so much better. Rancho Gordo's Mogette de Vendée beans from France, which cooked quite quickly on the stovetop. Nothing green, though I had a celery stalk while prepping.

Re: the beans - I didn't get to them before some had actually split. Evidently a small harvest, and super thin-skinned, the beans in their dry state weren't as beautiful as many others from RG, so I guess their lack of beauty once cooked was to be expected. But they are creamy and delicious, and smashed up on crostini tonight or tomorrow, I'm sure they'll be tasty.

Had a prime rib in the oven a couple of nights ago. Got a frantic call from d-i-l who had to go to emergency at the hospital. Son was away to a conference. Luckily, I had the oven on @275F and got hubby to turn it off after 3 hours as I was longer than anticipated.
By the time I got home, I was too beat to cook sides, so picked up A & W burgers for our supper. We like the A & W burgers the best of the 3 main fast food places.  The latest promo is the '56 Burger to celebrate the 56th year of the company. I got the '56 Mama Burger in lettuce wrap. A couple of weeks ago, I picked up a lettuce wrap burger from "the other big chain". Protein is different but same concept. What a difference! Now you know why we prefer A & W. Are there any of this chain in USA?

The other chain's Jalapeno Chicken Lettuce Wrap

We finally got to eat the prime rib roast last night. I am in love with the Anova for reheating the roast without overcooking! The roast was medium by the time hubby turned the oven off but left it for another hour before I got home. After 1 hour @135F, it came out the same!

Last nights dinner was Hainanese chicken rice. Served with the usual accompaniments, spring onion and ginger oil, plus fiery chilli sauce and a bowl of broth.

@Shelby Beautiful crab - love the knuckles.  What is the green dish?

Sorry, just now saw this!

A very trashy version of broccoli and cheese casserole using cream of mushroom soup and smashed up potato chips for topping.

Oh, good!  I was afraid you would say kale.

Very nice @sartoric I love this dish.  Did you use a pandan leaf and if so where did you get it?

Nah, left it out, but I chucked in a couple of Indian bay leaves (don’t tell the purists).

Nothing is better than frying in lard.

Nothing.  Do not quote me on this.
