A dinner party to be envied. My mother would have swooned over the chandelier. Al hers were the crystals - had to hand polish each bit...

So the walnut pate grabbed me. Can you elaborate?

Heidi, some years ago I was able to buy a walnut/prune "cake" from Catalonia at my local cheese store.   Then it vanished and no one seemed to have a clue about it.    (Fig and almond is readily available, but this one I like better.)    So I figured I'd try to make a faux version.

Chopped pitted prunes, anise seeds, (toasted) walnut pieces, Muscatel (or any sweet wine)

Moosh all together and tamp into a flat container, cover with saran and press HARD.  Cover and refrigerate (maybe not necessary but I did.)

Periodically press to condense.    Last night's is the end of the one I made a couple of months ago.

That's all,    Everyone seems to find it sublime with cheese, especially people who "don't like prunes!"

Here is the real thing

Hubby has a cold and wanted comfort food, which for him is anything Italian. Made turkey meatballs (green flecks are minced fresh spinach and parsley), sauteed spinach and mushrooms, and noodles. Jarred sauce, which was by Barilla and not bad. Only have photo of the “nekkid” meatballs.

Dinner tonight, I was looking for things that pair with Cab Sav, and Tarts were one option.

1/2 is for me, other 1/2 for my wife, mine has the bacon.  Both have squash, shiitake mushrooms, asparagus, dried basil, goat cheese, shallot.

It must be skewer night!    Nothing to eat, then remember chicken thighs.   Marinated in lemongrass and friends.    Recycled last night's sushi rice into ersatz fried rice.

We too had Pasta and Meatballs.

I was sure I had Spagetti but decided slurp factor wasn't enough to offset the 30km drive so salad spirals made do.

Flea market.   25 cents each.    Made in France.

I got mine in a random kitchen-stuff grab bag at Value Village for $1.99 or something like that, along with some other random things which elude my recollection at the moment.

Left-over Mett turned into lemongrass-scented meatballs. To augment, yellow curry paste bloomed in coconut oil, diluted with chicken stock plus ginger plus dried kaffir lime leaves. Rice noodles and coriander finally made it into ... I don’t know. But it was tasty and consumed in the kitchen ☺️
