Dinner 2024

DH cooked while I minded the older grandsons 2 & 4. He made a dish of chicken with olives and mustard served over pasta. I really enjoyed it and so grateful to him for taking over as I was tired after little ones had gone home.

Some evenings just call for a Martini (the vermouth made it into the drink, but not into the picture).

Reverse-seared strip steak topped with sautéed mushroom and pan sauce.  Chive mashed Yukon gold potatoes.  Roasted broccolini. A dab of horseradish.

To drink with dinner.

Pan grilled strip loin, mushrooms in green peppercorn gravy, loaded perogies made by a friend: bacon, onion, cheese, taters, dill

Salted, tucked with fresh thyme, and roasted chicken. Fresh asparagus from a Hutterite colony. Love that they cut just the top 4 - 5 inches. Maybe they keep the rest of the stalk for themselves. $4.00 / lb, and they were amazing!

I hope your household follows the tradition where they have to kiss the cook if they get a bay leaf on their plate!

Simple dinner last night, as we're too busy watching playoff hockey. So I cooked this up between periods (the prep was done earlier):

IMG_2089.thumb.jpeg.a0468103972fa5bf02ff80b4c132bae4.jpeg

Beef with asparagus, carrots, onions, garlic, ginger, scallions, in oyster sauce Jasmine rice.

care to rent out that pool house?

stunning.

Thanks!  The building in the photo is actually a detached garage.
The pool house is cool looking, but the design is iffy, especially when it’s the middle of summer. The sun sets right in that opening, and it’s miserable. We are looking into some kind of screening maybe. Pardon the mess, still getting it set up.IMG_5137.thumb.jpeg.c1dbf698d702aa326092af609ebe6289.jpeg
