A batch of bread dumplings (I use only the crust of sourdough breads, free from a local bakery). These are already cooked and ready to go in the freezer.

Why are they removing crust and giving away? I have Knoedel on the brain between you and @Duvel I almost caved to a box of matzo ball mix the other day as a quick craving fix for just a few. But $5USD seemed silly. Will have to do from scratch. I know - not exactly rocket science.

Sorry, I meant the crumbs. A tray under the slicer catches the crumbs and I get them for free. Baker thinks I give them to garden birds (but I buy bird food for them). But there are some ends/heels in the mix, too.

Interesting. You've taken me back to Red Eye Gravy. One of my plant vendors is from Oaxaca and his mom has an organic plantation - he sometimes has her beans for sale and said she uses the coffee in dark moles.

Back to an old favorite tonight , Cafe Mogador. First time in a year and a half. We've gotten delivery but it's definitely not the same.

Orecchiette is hardly a worthless shape.

It might even be suggested that for a "sauce" with salmon roe, it's a better shape than either bucatini or linguini.

They are cute, like little fairy bowls with the roe nestled in them. In Atlanta a friend of my daughter brought over a gigantic casserole of mac n cheese. She used orecchiette, and it was good; thicker and with a bit more bite than typical elbows. I ate more mac n cheese in the three weeks I was there than in the last ten years combined. They seem to have an unlimited capacity for it in the south, appreciating it whether it is good or not. When you have newborn twins to feed you eat everything you can close your jaw on.

It's odd eating good food on disposable plates.  Even though NYC has largely opened up, some restaurants are still serving the outdoor tables in the takeout containers, with disposable plates and cutlery.

maybe they over bought at the beginning of the pandemic and are trying to get rid of it, and I agree,  but if the food is really good I can over look it

Feeling too lazy to cook … but found a package a small Maultaschen in the fridge (originally purchased to amp up some chicken soup last week). Boiled and simply dressed with soy sauce, sesame oil, dash of balsamic vinegar, doubanjian, chili crisp and cilantro.

Tonight's dinner with friends. Two brined 6 pound chickens smoking with the last of my black cherry wood.

I'm waiting for the 19" pizza pan to arrive, making do with a 14" and a 12".

@Wait. Wot

looking forward to to seeing your results.

nice drip pan combo.

and idea to think about ;

get an oblong aluminum pan.

the disposable ( but you are going to use it over and over again )  type

I lined mine w parchment paper , caught all the drippings and was an easy

clean up.

those disposables last a long long time

if you take care of them

and they come is all sorts of sizes.
