@alwaysdrawing Nice price on the pork.  Bone in?  I am not a hair splitter but that looks like tasty pulled pork versus having crispy edges which I at least associate with carnitas. Either way I'd welcome your leftovers ;)

I crisp the edges in the oven at 400 after pulling, but clearly not enough!

and yes, bone in....$7.50 for an 8lb shoulder

how did you cook ' your butt ' ?

Crockpot all day, then shredded, added additional seasoning (garlic, chili, black pepper, paprika, cumin) and crisped in oven.  Easy weeknight cook.

Sometimes I’ll smoke it when I have a whole day, but crockpot + oven is the simple way.

you fit 8 lbs in your Crock ?

yes, it fits—it’s just a normal size crockpot. I think this shoulder was 8.6lbs. If I get a bigger shoulder I’ll either cut in half and freeze the other half, or just save to grill/smoke on a weekend.

We went out for dinner the other night for the first time in a long time. So much better than ordering in - the place was packed! (distanced of course and we were outside)

After a big restaurant meal, and then another (if slightly smaller) restaurant meal, we needed this last night...

Penne with shrimp, asparagus, shallots, garlic, herbs. And a salad.

 Nice!

You must be up North. My hostas are way past this stage.

Actually, those shoots are a couple of weeks old.

There have been in the refrigerator. I also have a few in the freezer. They are not bad from the freezer.

What was to be Stuffed baked potato became this after Mrs Captain (aka Wench) offered to scrub the spuds for me and didn't stop there and peeled them also.

Just as good and more room to add butter.

And a quick Tuna Pasta Bake to feed the unexpected.

Rice bowl with tuna (soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic, cilantro), edamame, ginger, seaweed, marinated nori, cucumber kimchi.  This is a new to me kind of rice.  I cooked it on white rice setting in rice cooker and it was pleasantly chewy.

Ramen with mushroom broth, with mixed mushrooms, bok choy, a soy sauce egg, and pork belly for those who eat it.  I made it both thick chunked and thinner sliced because this was my first time making pork bely for ramen and I was not sure which would be tastier.  Both were pronounced very good.
