Elephant garlic from last years crop, given to us by a neighbour. The largest head weighs 330g. 
This type of garlic grows best around these parts, we have a 100 plants in, they’ll be ready to harvest in November.

I like it. Here it is milder than regular garlic, so easy to peel, and wildly expensive. Lucky you!

Garlic harvest/  Seed Pluck /  Cabbage/ Horseradish---and those big Cabbage leafs

 

Since those  cabbage leafs are so thick and big..  what can i do with them

I found that the ribs on those big cabbage leaves don't break down very well, but a long braise might do the trick. I opted instead (after the unhappy experience of the first batch) to tear the leaves into smaller pieces, working between the ribs. The pieces worked well in kale/collards sort of dishes.

 

You might consider using them in the manner of banana leaves as a food wrapper for cooking in.

Life is good!

 

Garden is producing nicely, despite  problematic weather.

Today's blackberry harvest . Yesterday's is in the freezer blackberry ice cream.

You know those blue dots in store so-called blueberry pancakes and blue berry cupcakes? I made blueberry pancakes with real blueberries.

Pretty plump berries. Ya gotta work for them but the taste is worth it. No shot of your blue/purple pickin hands ?

Use as a steaming wrap..is edzacly what i did.

 

  Even after cooking my wrapped pork..i tried to eat the stuff....was  like chewing on CUD

I think it's time to can tomatoes. This is the yield from nine plants, picked Friday morning and again this morning. There'll be about half that many again in another couple of days.

Dug a whole bunch of potatoes and pulled a bunch of onions a couple days ago.

Some friends have green beans that are growing like crazy so they dropped some off.  Beautiful beans.

One of Ronnie's daughters works at a place that sells garden veggie plants among other things.  Over the weekend she texted that they were getting ready to throw out all of the plants that didn't sell and asked if we wanted some.  Ronnie told her maybe a couple of eggplants and a couple of peppers and tomatoes.  She rolled up and her car was packed lol.  We gave some to my friend and my brother and sister in law.  I know it's late in the season, but what the heck.  Why not plant them.

Like flat after flat of all kinds of peppers.  SHISHITO peppers!!!  I planted like 12 of those.  Also, cayenne, like 18 habanero, 18 white habanero, 18 Caribbean something or others, tobasco, bells....on and on and on.  No one in their right mind needs this many hot peppers lol.

I decided to pot instead of plant in the garden hoping they would last longer.  Also, they are pretty.

@Shelby, I would love to have my own source of onions like that. Is it easy to use up what you grow (onions)?

 

Will be interesting to see what you get up to with all your peppers.

We use a lot of onions.  I put them in large ziplock and keep them in the fridge.  They last a while that way.

A couple of years ago I threw my scapes into the food processor then onto drying racks.  The resulting dried scape is easy to cook with.  I also mixed with salt and made little gift packages of garlic scape salt.  I vacuum sealed the excess in smallish bags and I still have some.


We are moving to a condo with just a lower fridge freezer compartment.  So our new challenge is to shop more often,  but less volume and try to keep a small stash in that freezer.  I am currently drying the tomatoes coming out of my last garden at this house…kinda sad but time to move on..  We will live very near to the summer farmers market so we plan on raiding that for fresh veggies.

Thanks to H-Mart, who not only sold a huge bunch of mint for a decent price, but I now have a mint plant set to explode into growth! I originally looked to get a plant start at the farmers market (support small biz and all) but I decided against it after seeing tons of aphids hiding - no way I'm bringing that into my crowded indoor jungle!

What a luxury plus good gardening skill to have some to preserve. Once blanched and frozen I don't think you will get "tender/crisp" but taste should be nice, Let us know.
