Dinner 2019

Another Pizza night.

Started two batches of dough this morning.  One went into the fridge for a longer cold fermentation and will probably

be baked tomorrow.

The other was for pizza.

Marinated cukes, vegetables, and some Maldon sea salt:

Brats with fried onions, slaw, sweet potato, and cheater creamed corn (frozen creamed corn and frozen kernels):

The brats were so good.  We usually have them at a friend's house and he cooks them to death.  I was very careful to simmer them to just below done and then crank the heat to brown them.  Still juicy and so tender.  Like eating a whole other sausage!

I was going to do some work in the garden. I walked passed by my tomato patch. I could hear all the tomatoes were whispering to me,

 " Pssssss------ BLT, BLT!!!", " Pssssss------ BLT, BLT!!!", " Pssssss------ BLT, BLT!!!", -----

Well, what choice did I have?

So I went inside and made a BLTB (Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato on Baquette) 9_9

Clean out the fridge dinner.

Pulled chicken from a smoked bird cooked  the other day.  Toasted corn tortillas on the  comal then layered a base of shredded cooked Brussels sprouts.  Reduced green salsa with the chicken to warm it up then added it atop the Brussels then added shredded micro greens and called it a day.  Actually quite tasty.  Sometimes you get lucky

This is my favourite beef roast. Love it more than Prime Rib.

Quite amazing for a Thursday night in August.     This could well serve us as a holiday feast meal.

And then, @Ann_T , after you shelled the peas, roasted the beef and baked the Yorkie, it was 8 a.m. and Moe woke up and requested eggs and biscuits for breakfast. I'm coming back as Moe in my next life.

Prime fillet.  I don't often indulge.  Kenji duck fat roast potatoes.  Please don't tell my doctor.  Coleslaw.

The last of my summer flowers are off the balcony.  These grace my dining table.

@Margaret Pilgrim, it was actually my birthday dinner.    Other than I didn't know what

I wanted to cook for dinner until mid afternoon and then had to run out to the store to pick up the roast, dinner was an easy one.

The beef took all of 30 minutes on high heat to roast  and while it rested for 20 minutes the Yorkshire pudding cooked.  As did the

potatoes.   I was happy to find a horseradish root yesterday. Not something that is always available.

@Katie, sorry to disappoint but the peas were frozen.😊  But  you are close, Moe was awake at 4:00 AM this morning and put in a request for scrambled eggs and  leftover roast beef with gravy.  (A favourite Sunday buffet breakfast at a restaurant when we lived in the Sault).   He is still waiting for it.

Playing around with some summer, Med/Middle Eastern-y stuff:

iM2Ip8Y.jpg?1

j97GDHs.jpg?1

A neighbor had gifted me a bunch of bell peppers (the green ones). I bought one more red one, and had some jalapeños as well. The filling is lamb, basmati rice, onion, garlic, various herbs and spices and whatever else I'm forgetting.  Steam roasted in the CSO for about 40 minutes, and then another 10 minutes without steam.  Atop some diced tomatoes and bay leaves.

9fG5ken.jpg?1

Scarily plated, alongside summer tomatoes, cucumbers and corn, drizzled with evoo and fleur de sel.

I opened a fancy 2012 Cab from Stonestreet, as I thought it would work with both the lamb and the peppers. It did.

Ahhhh - thanks for the insight, @Shelby! (even once roasted?)

No shape or form of GBP's for him.

When I show I pic of a pizza I've made, I be sure and explain that the green things are jalapeños lest he run screaming from his computer 🤣

 @liuzhou detests corn

@rotuts detests GBP's

@Ann_T detests salad

I keep a running list in my mind in case we all get together for a meal lol.
