I will chill them both and put them in the refrigerator until I am ready to sear and then eat them.

Those are a pair of beauties!

I think those are the words I used as I prepared them for the sous vide. Over and over again.

Those Symingtons make a damn good olive oil! Although not as good as their port....

Guess what? There's one here in Soho, on W. Broadway (I know, it ain't Paris, but...), I discovered as we walked by on Saturday. 6 macarons and these were a gift from us to us.

The macarons have been eaten (they were really good) while these have not yet been opened.

Today's gift...

These are great; Lost Bread is in Philadelphia, and they come up (with goodies) to the USQ Greenmarket every Wednesday. I was thinking of crushing one up and spinning it into a vanilla base I have in the freezer. awaiting the Ninja.

I can't imagine how big the parent plants were. What a windfall. My daughter had an excess of basil this year and she made basil oil with some of it. She gave me a small bottle and it was really lovely on fresh tomatoes.

For no particular reason other than friendliness, this pomelo landed at my home this afternoon.

I really love the Chinese tradition of giving food gifts "just because", I know that would brighten my day!

You just need a new set of friends of any origin! I am fortunate to be frequently blessed with unexpected food gifts. I unfortunately lost track of my Chinese friends many years ago.

Agreed! I used to have a work friend who would bring me food gifts, but he works in a different location now. With everyone fearing dietary minefields, germs, etc., it has become less common. Actually, the last "unexpected" food gifts received at my house were during COVID shut down!
