The noodles are all in one package, but the others are in separate packages sooooo...I was confused lol.

I certainly didn't want to screw up the best most expensive Ramen ever 😬

if it's anything like some of the Japanese noodles I can get here, each bundle is tied with some kind of ribbon - probably located beneath the colorful part of the cellophane wrapper just to make sure you can't see it!

Duvel to the rescue 

 

Take 450 mL of water and bring to a boil in a pot (not a pan).

 

Add the ramen. Boil for 2 min for “hard”, 2.5 min for “al dente” and as long as you want for “soft” (not recommended). 

 

Remove from heat. Add the soup package (the bigger of the two packs) directly to the water. Stir.

 

Garnish as you like.

 

Sprinkle on the spicy package (half a pack for medium spicy, one pack for spicy, two packs for very spicy). I recommend to start without or with a quarter pack to being able to enjoy the soup flavor).

OMG you're right!  Brilliant!  I didn't want to open the package but I can see now that they are in bundles of 5 which matches the amount of the other packets.

Shelby – mmmmm – French dip!  One of my favorite sandwiches.  If it’s on a menu, I’m almost sure to order it.  Yours looks wonderful.

 

Last night I managed to make a salad:

Tonight, we went on a COVID-responsible Xmas light tour.  We stayed in our car and got food through the drive-thru at Hardee’s, of all places. We drove out to a small town that Jessica and I especially wanted Mr. Kim to see, and the options were either Hardee’s or McDonalds.  I haven’t been to a Hardee’s in years – the last time was when the car behind me in the drive-thru blew up.  Seriously – there was a huge explosion, my car rocked, and when I looked in the rearview mirror the hood of the car behind me was wrenched up and steam was pouring out.  It seemed like a bad omen, and I haven’t been back since.  We might have to change that.  It could have been our appetites finally starting to return and a bit of toast-fatigue, but it was all really good.  Mr. Kim and Jessica had big, juicy bacon cheeseburgers and fries and I had really good, crispy chicken tenders and slaw.  We’ll see when we return to normal, I guess!

Doing some tests that need avoidance to red meat for a few days:

MaPo Tofu with ground pork for hubby, and I had spicy eggplant and tofu for me. I used to combine the two, but was told that MaPo Tofu does not have eggplant 😆 Had some mint that needed using up and I loved it with the Toban sauce.

We have a dear Japanese friend visiting over the extended weekend. Today I took her to Strasbourg to see the Christmas market*.

I think Paul is underrated.    Every product of theirs that I've tried has been excellent, baked on site -> very fresh.

@Duvel I agree with both of you - I've had Paul stuff several times, but always in the airport and have been impressed with the quality - especially in the airport!  But it is really the only option there so that's not saying much.  I do still dream about a small boulangerie in Beaune where we got an amazing epis de ble (no knife required) to have with some local Epoisses...

Our reve was a boulangerie in the village of Bievre, southwest of Paris.    An antique tool faire.   Cold.   Stood in line until I reached the counter and ordered a jambon-fromage.   The ample woman behind the counter called out, "Marrrrie!   Un jambon-fromage!"   The baguette was ethereal, the ham correct and the cheese perfect.    The next year, "Marrrrrie" seemed to have left, the sandwich okay but not more, and the next year the place was closed.    Sometimes you can't go home again.
