I only vaguely remember these chips:

"‘90s Kids Rejoice: 3D Doritos Are Finally Coming Back And They're Better Than Ever"

Quote

Doritos announced today that it would be releasing Doritos 3D Crunch, the '90s snack but made even better. They described it as the same shape, but with "even more bold and spicy flavor," which we will never, ever say no to. The snack will be available in stores in two flavors: Spicy Ranch and Chili Cheese Nacho.

I guess this should make someone happy somewhere.

Not all that exotic, but Old Dutch has some Celebration Flavours (celebrating 65 years in Canada), including a Parmesan Cheese and Black Pepper. Maybe a humbler version of Cacio e Pepe? They aren't awful, but I don't really like black pepper on potato chips!

It's a company that started in Winnipeg, Manitoba in the 1950's and it's pretty well known in most parts of Canada for potato chips.

In continental Europe, the „flavor“ of Netherland is associated with something else. Which - in return - goes pretty well with any flavor of potato crisp ...

Just tried Kroger's Private Selection Chicken Tikka Masala  Ripple-Cut Kettle Chips.  The spices overpower the potato flavor but I don't care. These are good.

"Pringles is entering the fried chicken sandwich wars with its new flavor"

Quote

Pringles is partnering with Wendy's for its newest chip flavor that's based on the chain's spicy chicken sandwich. The end result is a potato crisp that mixes the "fiery spice blend" of the chicken sandwich and a "perfectly crunchy and extremely convenient bite" of a Pringles, the company said in a press release.

It's a limited edition flavor.

By the way, stay away from Pringle's Parmesan and Roasted Garlic flavor. I had high hopes for this new flavor.

It turned out to be a major salt bomb. Couldn't even taste any nuance of flavor...just salt. Really, really bad.:(

宫保鸡丁味 (gōng bǎo jī dīng wèi) is what you may call "Kung-po chicken" flavour. "Gongbao jiding" is the Mandarin name; "kung-po" is Cantonese which they don't speak in Sichuan, home of the dish.

Anyway, now they are potato chips. It's the end of civilisation, I tell you!

You will be shocked to learn they taste nothing like gongbao or kung-po!

I bought some Peking Duck flavoured potato chips for the express purpose of posting to this thread but didn't get around to taking a picture and working up the courage to try them and threw the bag out when it started to puff up like a tick on a dog.

I've seen Beijing Duck flavour here, too. Never been tempted.

...and another Sichuan flavour spotted today

麻辣小龙虾味 (má là xiǎo lóng xiā wèi) - Hot and numbing crayfish flavour, hot and numbing meaning the Sichuan staple of chilli peppers and Sichuan peppercorns. I didn't buy them.

Now, I'm depressed. I'm told these monstrosites ae being launched. Luosifen chips.

Luosifen is this city's iconic deliciously wonderful dish of spicy noodles, pickled bamboo and vegetables in a rich stock mainly made using the local river snails.

Some idiots have decided this is what we need or want. No we don't!

On the bright side, very few of these so-called flavours pass the novelty phase. Here today and gone tomorrow seems to be their fate.

Lay's China seems to be on a roll. I spotted these today. Never seen them before.

This one baffles me. It reads 'Mouthwatering Chinese Bayberry Flavor', and the red berries portrayed are bayberries, but berry chips? I love bayberries in season - sweet but also slightly sour. Didn't buy these.

Someone must be buying/enjoying these   seemingly unfathomable Chinese flavors.   My neighborhood Asian market has maybe 20 feet (x 5 feet) dedicated to flavored chips.

There must be a tipping point between creating/testing new recipes and any manufacturing re-tooling required, plus marketing budgets versus the sales impact of novelty. Probably well studied by the manufacturers.

Actually, the Chinese brands are more normal. These "seemingly unfathomable" types are all Lay's, an American company owned by Pepsico.
