Mozzarella stuffed chicken milanese with salad and homemade focaccia. I used the edges of the focaccia loaf to make the crumbs for the chicken and it came out especially crispy.

My go to order at Mexican restaurants. If it passes the test of not tasting greasy and there is still some bite left in the pepper, I will return.

Agreed.   At home, it really depends on choosing peppers with thick meat.

Totally. It wasn't too hard to find good chile rellenos in mom and pop places in New Mexico, but here in northern CA not so much. Love them when they are good. So simple.

A rustic wholemeal pasta thing for us with skinless beef sausage.

I can't really use the sausages made from the last beast as 'Sausages' because whatever skins they used (I am assuming they are from said beast), are so thick and rubbery you really get a reminder of what they were used for back in the day 😅🤢

Ps. Happy New Year etc. etc.

Indian food last night.  We could not decide which paneer dish we wanted so I made two: saag paneer and mutter paneer.  With basmati rice and naan.

As usual - looks excellent.  Can you share the spices you used in your mutter paneer?  Tomatoes?  Is there cream as well or cashew paste?

Grilled ribeye and spring onions.  Served with blistered shishito peppers and  a mix of red and purple potatoes.

The steak came from a standing rib roast I purchased prior to Christmas and sectioned into steaks and back ribs.  I was pleasantly surprised at the marbling in the steaks.

Barley flavored with pomegranate molasses, cinnamon, cumin, chopped pistachios and golden raisins, topped with sautéed red onions, orange pepper and kale, and broiled eggplant marinated in mint and garlic.  Plus some feta cheese, cilantro and pomegranate seeds.

THIS looks and sounds amazing!

More quick trips to the city for hubby's medical apptns.
Was hoping to try some different meals via DoorDash to the hotel, but noooo...Chinese please - comfort food.

The first night was pretty good. It satisfied my craving for lots of vegetables. Singapore Noodles could have been  spicier, but asked for regular in deference to hubby's medical procedure next morning. He really enjoyed the huge bean paste stuffed sesame seed balls!

Picked up BBQ duck again , so rice bowl with duck and pea shoots was easy supper

My s-i-l brought over waterchestnut  "cake" (goh). It's like a firm jelly made with waterchester starch and diced waterchestnut. Supposed to fry slices lightly before eating, but we preferred it just cold and as is.

I'm envious :)

I love it.  It is so convenient to be able to just pick a couple leaves when needed - plus, the only store near me that would always have them has them prepackaged with a lot more than I'd use (and they're expensive) so I used to wind up freezing the rest - they keep ok in the freezer, but it's definitely not the same as being just plucked!  Plus, in certain dishes if I don't want to have to worry about picking out the leaves or eating around them or slicing super fine, I'll use some of the immature leaves which are still really tender.  The same is true of my curry leaf tree.

I used cinnamon, fenugreek leaves, a little bit of cloves, spicy Indian chile powder.  I found a link to the recipe I like:

That looks really delicious!  Can you share a recipe?

Last night we went with the old standard miso salmon udon noodle bowls.  It also had spiralized carrots (I got an attachment for my kitchenaid stand mixer that spiralizes hard vegetables with ease, unlike my old plastic one), bok choy, a ton of fava shoots from my CSA box, plus some black king oyster mushrooms from our mushroom share.  It was very nice on a cold, windy and snowy night.

Black bean Chicken Noodle Soup. Friday night storm prep. We had shrimp and salmon thawing but it was getting dark. Roasting coffee beans, the pups got the zoomies and took the cord out---roaster crashed to the deck during cool down--- beans and glass went flying.

Bummer. Too late and dark to bring out the back-up poppers. (back-up roasted half pound in the freezer). 😜

Freezer shopping found a pint of chicken in master stock and a pint of spicy Oaxaca black beans. He wanted pasta, I wanted rice. Compromised with a new-to-me rice noodle. (misfits)

Nice 5 minute noodle.

...even after holiday gifting I have so many RG beans to go through. No complaints. I like the choices.

Ouch on your roasting mess. Those rice noodles look so dark. Did the ingredient list indicate a dark component?
