I'm with you on the cold cheese, as is my husband. His layering involves 'bottom cheese' so it melts into the meat. My son however has a less advanced palette... and like with the hidden veg - if he can't see it, it's not there and it must be cheesy - hence top cheese 😁

As to the hard shells - I've only lived in UK and AU and hard / soft shells are both readily available in all shops - don't know anyone that makes either of them personally. Hard seems to get most of the advertising though. 🤷‍♀️

This fits here just. Only because my dinner was all the off cuts etc. Kid had curried (catsick) snags and rice. 

 

Husband is hosting friends for day drinks tomorrow while I'm working so I built this to ensure there is something to nibble on. Last time it was very much single malt and not a single thing else! 

 

I want to assure you this will be served with a lot of fresh fruit and veg. But it would be a lie.

Yesterday was DH’s birthday, he got to cook his own dinner😎. Ahi tuna steak and asparagus on the grill (I liked how the tops got crispy). I made a rice/quinoa pilaf. Went to Halo Pub, local ice cream shop, for dessert, ate our dessert in the car.

I traded a modest amount of my hard-earned for a large duck leg, which I then de-skinned and de-fatted*, then slow braised with garlic, shallots, Sichuan peppers, dried tangerine peel, ginger, dried red chillies  and star anise.The duck was removed from braising liquid and left to cool.

Later shredded it and loaded into these simple, thin wheaten wraps (approx 8" in diameter) with cucumber and garlic scapes. Dressed with Sriracha (although sour plum sauce would have been good, too - I was out of that.

Several were eaten.

Been chilly here the past few days, so soup.

 

Tomato bisque with a bacon, spinach, tomato, cheese, caramelized onion on Italian sandwich, fried in the bacon drippings.

My so also preferred "cheese on the bottom". 

Justin Fortune opened a Mexican restaurant in Sydney some years ago. The interest just not there.

Having major problems with my MacBook Pro keyboard.  I'm guessing that either a key is stuck (can't find it) or sigh I dunno.  Anyway...it is maddening.

Hamilton is the one closest to my house. Peanut Paradise is my favorite flavor...vanilla with ribbons of peanut butter and little chocolate bits.

Eggplant fatteh.

Roasted eggplants, chickpeas, grilled pita, grilled tomatoes and onion, a sauce of yogurt, some tahini, chili, parsley, lemon, cumin, a touch of cinnamon and allspice. Crispy pita, cashew, more yogurt and tomato.

You may (finally) be able to get that dealt with as a no-charge repair. The "butterfly" keyswitch mechanism they've used in recent years is notoriously failure-prone, and Apple has followed its usual problem-resolution process (deny there's a problem, refuse to cover the problem, issue a fix, refuse to cover the original problem or the problem with the "fix," eventually change the technology and grudgingly agree to cover the cost of the fix for those who know to ask...) but last I heard they'd arrived at the stage of replacing the damned things.

Oh your beautiful radishes. My local taco truck just sets out buckets (separately) of cilantro, onion, and sliced radishes  Green and red spicy salsas made on site also in buckets!.

„Dönerteller“: trying to improve my döner recipe and I am getting closer. I wish I had more power on my stove to crisp the slices - a gas one would be so much nicer ...

I really didn’t feel like cooking yesterday night. This my 10 minutes to put together meal...Grilled chicken breast for me and my son, breaded breast for the girl, boiled some broccoli, at the same time of the chicken I put  some mini peppers on the grill. Salad was already washed  and my husband decided to diet 😙

@Franci  Mine learned there was frozen crud in freezer (pizza bites and corn dogs!), ramen packets in pantry and grocery store a 5 minute walk (well there was a Panda Express in grocery) The boys started cooking (I looked away) Came into great room one day and they were using napkins AND had lit a candle. Oh my!

Charlie has only had a couple of salads in the last few years, so I went looking for "salads for people who hate salads".  Honestly I have to wonder about some of the ideas.  I wouldn't eat some of them and I like salad.  Anyway I decided on Watermelon Poke Bowl. We both liked it and both ate most of our servings. The picture is before the dressing was added.  We had it with grilled steak. Charlie had mac & cheese and I had half a baked potato with sour cream and bacon bits from Smoking Goose.

@Norm Matthews oh salad! My kid philosophy (I realize Charlie is a grown man) was always "color". Cantaloupe is orange- so  we are good, The green stuff well we called fried zuke flowers and oregano "even". He is a healthy happy 29 year old ')

My kids would touch anything orange: no cantaloupe, no pumpkins and no sweet potato 😁 oh wait, they eat orange peppers! 🤣

I made tagliatelle and ragù for kids and husband but I didn’t feel like it. So I went for something they don’t like as they call it “my healthy stuff” but I really enjoy: wild cod, very little tomato, zucchini (but often I do with peppers or/and potatoes), olives, capers, some Turkish biber, shallots, a little olive oil and a splash of fish oil. I have a microwave with sensor cooking on fish. No mess, very quick. Served with steamed rice. I couldn’t be happier 😁
