Dinner 2021

It was a bit of a strange Sunday pizza & movie night. First of all, there was no movie. The Halloween theme has finally caught up with Germany and little one and his friends went „trick or treat“ing …

My wife accompanied him to his friends house and stayed for a while. I was left with quite some dough and my parents-in-law (who are visiting) to entertain. So pizza night with the inlaws 🥳. Luckily, there were a few cold Jever‘s left in the fridge …

Mushroom & sausage

Margherita (my MIL took an interest and launched the pizza into the oven. And failed to retrieve it at 3.45 min. She is more of an „approximate“ person. Lesson learned - on my side at least 🤗).

All enjoyed while watching TV3 Noticies streaming …

My favourite meals are usually the simplest ones.

Wow that is a gorgeous vibrant kale field! I've ridden through cabbage fields - distinctive odor. Kale?

Not sure. Probably not strong enough and I'm highly sensitive to smells.

Just smelled the kale in the fridge. No smell.

Also, the farmer says the variety he grows has a constant level of sugar regardless of the weather. His kale is sweet and tasty, unlike supermarket kale.

The perspective makes the farm look big but it's quite small.

Freezer dive to make space for Thanksgiving. Ratatouille really is better as a reheat, this was leftover from May. Oven roasted (frozen, defrosted) shrimp with garlic. Baked potato (yes, singular, it was massive, so we shared).

Speaking of cauliflower, I made Ina Garten's Cauliflower Gratin the other day.

If you love cauliflower you must make it, it is just delicious.

Gratin

I make this often in the winter, and second lindag's recommendation.  It is excellent (as are many of the other recipes in the cookbook it's from--Barefoot in Paris).

We also did pizza and movie night.  Mushroom, pepper, onion and basil

That6 is what they looked like to me though I prefer a wider type. Glass noodles in my experience 'cook" up quite clear. I may have to cave and order some of both.

Problem solved and approval from  my granddaughter. :D

Looks delicious.  We love toad in the hole.  I recently made Chef John’s (of u-tube fame) toad in the hole.  An interesting and less messy recipe.  He has you put the pan filled with your room temperature ingredients in a COLD oven.  Then crank it to 500f for about 45 min.  Cannot tell the difference between it and my regular preheat splattering oil method.

The Chinese, 熊猫米粉, translates as 'Panda Rice Noodles'. I hope no pandas were involved in the manufacture, though.

Nice looking dish you have there.
