Dinner last night - ghee rice, indeterminate veggie curry from the freezer, a mix of kachumber and raita, okra and the last of the kali dal. We both tried to figure out what that freezer curry was.....nope, no clue, but it has spurred me to update the freezer inventory.

We wanted to try something new to us from our awesome Indian cookbook.  So why not an egg curry:

1st time I've had curry with eggs.  Quite tasty - there's also toasted course grounded almonds in there.

Dinner at the Hog Island Oyster Company in the Oxbow Market in Napa. 

  I had a couple orders of grilled oysters. Probably one of the best things I’ve had during this trip.  One order was Chipotle Bourbon and the other was Margarita. I used their phenomenal bread to soak up the juices.  

 

  My husband had the oyster po’ boy.

Squid and shrimp stir fried with snow peas, ginger, garlic, chilli, Shaoxing wine and oyster sauce. Served with rice, of course.

Homemade Brats, butternut squash, prunes in wine sauce and roasted cauliflower with onion.  My DH's meal...I stole 1/3 of one of his Brats.  They were from our new batch and the texture is way better than our previous attempt.  Very juicy..cooked to 165F.

@Nicolai  Great looking  Malaysian but "low salt" hmmm?  Those odd to Westerners desserts can be challenging but I have come to enjoy them.

“Meat”loaf with cheesy mash, fresh tomato sauce, caramelised onions and @HungryChrispickled mushrooms. The loaf was made with plant based mince, grated carrot and sweet potato, grated onion, garlic salt and other spices including smoked paprika. I added hard boiled eggs in the Italian polpettone style. Only the first slice (pictured) held together, the rest was a crumbling mess. The taste was okay, but I think this meat substitute might work better in other dishes.

Mallow casserole (eggy, a bit like a frittata or kuku) with soft feta cheese.

Rice with carrot, cumin, turmeric, soaked raisins.

Labneh, tomatoes.

Made a recipe from Margaritaville cookbook for John... a shrimp dish.  I don't care for shrimp and don't like the taste of alcohol so will make it for him.  He said it was extremely good and should go into rotation....and it will IF he is around long enough.

Did a bison meatloaf and served it with steamed broccoli and baked potato.  The leftover potatoes went into eggy potatoes he has taken up north for his breakfast. Pieces of the meatloaf were tucked into some whole wheat sliders with some lettuce for the ride. I reheated themeatloaf and broccoli stems and ate them with some mashed sweet potatoes.  

Last night for me was a cobb salad with romaine and green leaf lettuce topped with some apple, black olives, turkey, blue cheese, garlic croutons, red onion and Persian cucumbers topped with a raspberry vinaigrette.  Wasn't sure about that but it did work well.

Still full from a late lunch so I'll wait until tomorrow to fix something....

Pizzas!

New york style dough.

 

First is motz with pepperoni and mushrooms with smoked paprika.

This is not a salmon.  Compared to last night's salmon dry aged beef rib is priced like a cheap lunch.  But who can resist a tender cut of beef that tastes like country bacon?

 

Now if I could only find a physician to call up and tell me to eat more dry aged beef.
