Wings tonight.  Just wings although when I looked at the plate I decided we needed a green vegetable so I sprinkled some cilantro on them.  Flats for me, drumettes for him.

Could of had some cucumber slices on the side.O.o

I know.  I like cucumber sliced fairly thinly marinated in nothing more than seasoned rice vinegar.  When I opened the fridge to get the cilantro I saw the cucumber and said to myself, "dang, you could gave had marinated cucumber on the side"!:(

Leftovers as we prepare for a departure to Barbados to hang with a bunch of rum geeks for a week

leftover grilled chicken with fresh made mashed potatoes and Caesar salad.  I had recently purchased some Mexican crema which worked marvelously in the taters

Final roast of last years piggy...don't worry we have the new piggy in the freezer downstairs! Oven roasted Aunt Doly Spuds, carrots and gravy made with bisto and all the drippings! The Man feels very satisfied based on his sailor / comic book talk: "that was so %$@^(@ good, so incredibly %*$^@*%^ good." Mission accomplished ;)

I haven't posted any dinners for a couple of days for the simple reason that I haven't had any. I have eaten but it's been meal-ettes while on the run between increasingly pointless meetings.  Anyway, got back home this afternoon and took a deep breath.

Still a bit of a thrown together repast, but one of my own choosing and cooking.

Pork with black fermented beans, chilli, garlic, ginger with scallions and sesame oil. Stir fried bitter chrysanthemum greens (苦菊 kǔ jú) and rice.

The next three days are a major public holiday here so more cooking should occur, especially tomorrow when I am required to entertain two (or maybe three) young Chinese friends for the day and all its meals. Then Monday I'm off on a two week business trip around southern China and Vietnam.

Using up leftovers

For tonight, braised short rib used in a taco.  Cleaned and shredded the rib meat and cooked with green onions, cilantro  and jalapeño

made a salsa with mini multicolored tomatoes, green onions and cilantro and plated with avocado and lime

leftovers preformed well as a new dish.

OMG!!!!, there are so many wonderful meals on this page.

@Captain, your lamb salad platter is spectacular.  So colourful.

@Anna N, Duck breakfast perfectly cooked.  Large duck breast.

@ElsieD, I prefer the flats too.  Sometimes I can buy packages of just flats.

@Mmmpomps, I could eat roasted potatoes every day.  Especially when they look like yours.

@liuzhou, I would be happy with everything thing you cook.

@scubadoo97, now I have a craving for tacos.  Just like yours.

I promised Moe I would make him Halibut Fish and Chips this week.   So tonight was the night.

@Dejah,  yesterday the halibut fillets were on for $3.99 a 100gs but the price changes today and is apparently going up to over $6.00.  But they will still

have the steaks on at $2.99 a 100gs this week.   So although I prefer the fillets I will probably get a couple of steaks while they are still on at a decent price.
