Be very careful how you knock the blue box. That stuff has fan clubs and they will get you!

LOL>  I did not mean to knock it. I just meant to ID what it was.  My son is a huge fan of it and I don't hate it. I like it left over, cold, right out of the refrigerator.

I made a mushroom stew with morels (fresh), porcini (fresh and dried) and cremini. Stock, soaking liquid, some tomato paste, spring onions, etc. etc.

Served over polenta. Side salad.

That's such a nice combo:  polenta and mushroom stew.  I made that recently with oyster mushrooms from the Farmer's Market.  Have you tried the Anson Mills polenta?  Outstanding corn flavour.

I have indeed had the Anson Mills polenta. This is the Geechie Boy Mill's product - also quite good.

Patates amb Rabassoles.  Potatoes with morels. And ramp butter, green garlic, spring onions, shallots, stock, rosemary, saffron and pimentón. Once the potatoes were tender, topped with bread crumbs and stuck under the broiler for a few.

Heritage pork chop, braised. Sliced and served with a horseradish/mustard/stock pan sauce.

Happy anniversary @liamsaunt!!  Looks like you are enjoying your time on the cape.

Yesterday was simple for me - a small macaroni and cheese with a small green salad.  John has a bunch of stuff for him to choose from - pasta with roasted shrimp, smooch, chicken soup.  He can eat whatever appeals to him at the time.

Tonight is going to be a western sandwich for me.

I wanted to make the ethiopian bread, injera but,  purchased whole grain teff instead of the milled flour.. So, i made a porridge tonight for dessert.. Some whole grain teff, water, almond extract, vanilla, brown sugar, cinnamon, salt, oat milk.. top with a little shot of peanut butter...   It was so delicious.

Sure sounds delicious. Might you give measurements for this recipe please?

@JoNorvelleWalker, I'm glad you kept your bean broth. That soup looks tasty.

Tonight's pizza. 7+ day refrigerated dough, granulated garlic. Thinly sliced mozzarella and variety of fancy mushrooms, and grated Parmigiano-Reggiano. A little over 6 minutes. Top surface of dough too wet IMO. Tasted good though.

Plant based diet.  I had a chu chee can of curry I purchased recently.. Actually, I went to a small Thai Market in Manhattan's Chinatown the other day.  I purchased thai red chile, i purchased fresh kaffir lime leaves, fresh galangal  and thai basil.. To the curry I added, coconut cream,  thai pepper, then yucca, mushrooms, green beans, cherry tomatoes, broccoli and eggplant. Lime juice, brown sugar and finally some cornstarch.   Prior to adding the veg, i had cooked the yucca in boiling water for 8 minutes, i blanched the broccoli, the green beans to ensure even cooking.  Put the curry over rice noodles, chiffonade of kaffir lime  and thai basil.

Doesn't look like much but, it was so good.

Kept the noodle separate as I will eat this for lunch in a couple of days with rice.

The Thai store on Mosco St? If so I'm happy to hear they're still open!  But why brown sugar instead of palm sugar?

Honestly, I have no idea what I did... I think it was like 1/2 cup teff to two cups of water.  Then added sugar, cinammon, vanilla and almond extract and salt to taste..

@Duvel how good the fried turnip cake, must be a lifetime I don’t have it! Love that stuff.

Today finally some vegetable in the house, although I’ll try to avoid Instacart in the future, prefer picking my own stuff. But I didn’t feel like going in the outside world today! I cooked some cauliflower, string beans and spicy sauté escarole. A little bit of focaccia and pizza I previously froze and for the rest of the family I made 2 pieces of wagyu sirloin I still had in the fridge and needed to cook. For myself I cooked some penne and sauté with a little bit of the spicy escarole. Everybody happy. So difficult to take pictures at night! Anyway missing the meat and the pasta!

I had my fill of durian a few years back in Singapore... I actually really liked the flavor and texture, but didn't like how the flavor lingered.... for hours!!!

Yesterday my nephew grilled burgers and hot dogs for himself, my husband and my husband's brother.  He did a good job.

The inspiration for dinner started with finding green tomatoes at Wegmans.  Sliced:

IMG_2387.jpg.bf85ee2274e020edda76ef887e1d50ce.jpg

(Some of these pictures give an example of the light in which I have to prep dinner at this time of the year).  Dredging station – flour, egg wash, and cornmeal/panko mix:

IMG_2388.jpg.64ab67dc5c58829f260940c58fe27072.jpg

Coated:

IMG_2389.jpg.6188657616026cd0c40870b28e14601f.jpg

I didn’t realize until I had this step done that I was using some GF panko that I happened to have.  It looked a little funny (like Rice Krispies, in fact), but the taste and texture were fine.  Doing their thing:

IMG_2395.thumb.jpg.e565bcf27f7e166ce6fd60edbc202a3f.jpg

Done:

IMG_2396.thumb.jpg.beba84593f11ba2b6360c61e4046ccc9.jpg

Next step – roasted shrimp:

IMG_2392.jpg.86e87f122119c3f12e502078c749b211.jpg

Perched on the tomatoes:

IMG_2397.jpg.a5829a95bfeb68eed732684be0e99f4b.jpg

On the side were these adorable potatoes and some beautiful asparagus:

IMG_2391.jpg.5cd6b8d70853fd3d13bfd333293f0d36.jpg

So pretty – I wish I liked it.

Plated with some delicious remoulade:

IMG_2399.thumb.jpg.7b47b5db8e97ae5f888c55eadfd7cf07.jpg

Got lucky and found the remoulade recipe online.  Also served some sausage balls we had in the freezer:
