Yes, RG Black-eyed peas with collard greens (unless the grocery store is out of them) and ham. I usually make posole, too, but a friend gifted us a couple of filet mignons and scalloped potatoes and I'm already braising some beef short ribs, so we have more food than we'll know what to do with for a while.

I remembered we had a ham hock in the freezer that ought to be used before too long, so I decided to make this classic recipe.

I don't have any dried BEPs on hand either and my store no longer stocks many of the 'old fashioned' products due to space constraints (much of their  space has gone over to the more modern prepared foods that so many people want today).

So my choice is either Eden or Melissa's brands.

I'm not familiar with either since I've always used dried.

My plan was to make Accara, the West African fritters that, similar to falafel, are made with soaked beans, ground, seasoned, shaped, fried and served with a dipping sauce. 
If I don’t feel up to making the fritters, I’ll at least cook up a little dish of BEP!

They also have a particular agenda re contraception and health care in general.

The tradition of eating greens and black-eyed peas isn't a "thing" up here, barring perhaps a small number who brought it with them as immigrants or acquired it by osmosis (if you will) through social settings like this one.

 

My own equivalent ritual, as a freelancer, is creating my "2024 Invoices" folder. :)

Yes. It's based in Clinton, Michigan, SW of Ann Arbor.
