I should have looked at the ingredients as it's lot of stuff you’d never find in real gelato.  Kinda like making ice cream with Coffee Mate vs real dairy. Pistachio is subtle. The flavors don’t taste bad but the mouthfeel gives the composition away.

Yikes!

I find it curious that both flavors contain coconut oil, but coconut is only listed under 'may contain' instead of 'contains'.  I have heard that coconut oil can be so thoroughly processed as to have allergens removed, but it still boggles my mind 🤷‍♀️

Have you seen this BBQ sauce at your TJ's?

I've not seen it at my usual store yet word on the 'net is that it's back in stock.  It appears that many stores are carrying it.

Sriracha is essentially a chilli and garlic sauce so that looks a bit of a misnomer. All in the taste obviously.

The word Sriracha in relation to the sauce is pretty much meaningless.

It was originally pickled garlic, not roasted and remains so in Si Racha and most Thai versions.

Fresh from NY Times Wirecutter, the 18 best Trader Joes's Foods

I saw that yesterday.  Of that list, I’ve tried 3 items: the Unexpected Cheddar and Le Delice de Bourgogne cheeses are both excellent.  I thought the Taki-dupe rolled chili lime tortilla chips, that are a fan big favorite, were awful. One bite and binned.

Of the rest, I’d try the double chocolate croissants as the other versions (plain, almond, chocolate) I’ve tried have been excellent.  I’d also give the kimbap a try if I needed something like that.

Nothing else on that list even remotely appeals to me.

Not really surprising. I’m a regular TJs shopper and a big fan but have no interest in at least 80% of their offerings!

I'm not a regular Trader Joe's shopper because I rarely have the opportunity. That said, I can promise you that the Double Chocolate Croissants are wonderful. Little else of what they reviewed appeals to me either, although I like getting their cheeses. Can't remember whether I've tried any of those mentioned, though.

the Unexpected Cheddar is a fine benchmark for Excellent Cheddar.

I’ve had these lemon stuffed green olives kicking around for a while so I’m not sure if they’re still in stock or not. IMG_5244.thumb.jpeg.b95c1a8639aa5278f870fa84b069df5a.jpeg

They’re big and each one is stuffed with a piece of lemon peel so they have a salt-preserved lemon vibe.

I suspect they’d be nice in a martini if you like such things.  Or on a charcuterie platter.

Sigh.  The only Trader Joe's near me is in a small shopping center with an impossible parking lot; literally you come into the lot and start going up and down the rows (which accommodate 8 cars) and it's akin to a maze in that you can only go in one direction;  the lanes are extraordinarily tight so turns are nerve-wracking and you circle the lot several times before a spot opens up.  I went a few times, but spent more time trying to park than to shop.   The last time I went, I did get Kringle, which was absolutely delicious!  Completely agree about the Pecan Kringle.  I also liked the cheese version and the raspberry one.  Thankfully I can order online and not brave that parking lot!!

This sent me looking to see whether TJ's had developed an online presence. Nope. Gotta be in certain areas where there's a third-party delivery service, although I see some things are available through Amazon now. Ah well, I'd still rather live out in the sticks!

Actually, I've just seen that Amazon carries at least two of the items I like to stock up on: their redundantly-named Garlic Aioli Mustard Sauce (eG-friendly Amazon.com link) and these julienned Sun-dried tomatoes in olive oil (eG-friendly Amazon.com link). Yay!

@Smithy

the problem w ' TJ's @ Amazon '  is the price.

3d party price gouging at its finest.

but if one gotta have it , then one gotta have it.

Im very fortunate :  Tj's is 10 minutes away

although they now open @ 9 AM rather than 8 AM.

its always sometning.

I agree on all your points. Right now I'm excessively well stocked on those sorts of items, but eventually the Amazon 3rd party price gouging may be my only option. That's a while off, but it's nice to think I may have options when the time comes.

You bet .

however , for some reason the kringles end up being much cheaper via TJ's

if there is one near you.

How Tj's does this , I do not know.

I quite like the Dulcinea "Tuscan" melons our TJ's offers. $3.49 or maybe $3.99.  I take my time and make sure to get one that's in great shape.

And I've had good luck with the nectarines from Moonlight Companies.  I buy the 2 lb. bag (which is always more than 2 lbs.); it usually has 6 -7 nectarines (today's had 5 big ones), and after 36 - 48 hours on the counter they are nice, sweet and juicy. $3.99.

Corn on the cob is usually nice and sweet, if I can fight off the Chinese ladies to get to the bin. $.69 an ear.

Baby Watermelon is so-so, as is most watermelon these days.  I suppose if I were to buy a giant one somewhere else, I'd fare better, but no way I'm lugging that upstairs.

Eggs are no longer a problem, though the price is probably well over $1 more than they used to be.

And I can never find that cheese @blue_dolphin mentioned above. The Le Delice de Bourgogne.

As can be seen, I stick to mostly produce, eggs, occasional cheese (Feta, the idiazabal a cheddar or two (they had an interesting red cheddar from UK today)), and those chocolate bars from Belgium in the 3-packs. Most of my cheeses come from Formaggio Essex.
