This one, first entry. Invented (and named) after Einbeck, a small town about 50 km away from my hometown. A friends father held one stock of the company, that is still producing it to get an invitation for the annual shareholder meeting, where the beer was served ad libitum. A fun way to get wasted ...

600 grit is what you need

 

maybe a 400 to start off

 

Ive done them to 1000 grt

 

your cutting ' board ' would be important there

this is a very tasty combo - white bean salad with artichoke and asparagus

for two with leftovers...

 

I do my beans from scratch - so it's 150 g dry cannelloni  = ~330 g soaked

(alt:  14 ounces canned, drained)

cooked & cooled

 

prep:  thinly slice 4-6 fresh radishes

prep:  2 bunches scallion/green onions using both white solid stem green parts (10-14 pieces)

prep:  drain ~14 ounce wet/8-9 ounces dry / 340 g canned quartered artichokes, drained

 

~500 g asparagus - cut off tips; cut 15 mm pieces of tender stalk part.

cook - 3 minute head start for stems into boiling water; add tips for additional 2 minutes

chill shock in ice water to stop the cooking.

 

put everything except beans in bowl

salt & pepper to taste

refrigerate 90 minutes

 

add beans in, drizzle with juice of 1 fresh lemon - no seeds

drizzle with good extra virgin olive oil

toss, check for seasoning, refrigerate 1 hour prior to service

 

garnish with chiffonade of fresh basil.

Thanks. For a very short period of time we were able to purchase a bock beer in the spring here in Canada but I’m guessing it didn’t catch on. I seem to recall it being being a Carlsberg offering. My husband and I were very sad when it disappeared.

We look forward to that every year...our corned beef was so small that I'm going to have to make another one to have sandwiches!  Yours look sooooooo good.

Ours was too small, as well! Will definitely make it again. 
 

Tonight’s dinner was a huge clash of cultures! Tea leaf salad and a cheeseburger, anyone? 🤪

 

I had a tea leaf salad at a Burmese restaurant a few years ago and it was so delicious that I couldn’t forget it. Unfortunately, I’ve never had an opportunity to have one again. I recently discovered that you could buy kits online, and so I did. While it’s not as good as the one in my memory, it’s still very good. I think having had it only once before I wasn’t sure about proportions.

I reheated my attempt at @Katie Meadow's Faux spinach souffle.  About 10 minutes in the APO at 160C with 100 percent steam.  The steam made all the difference.  What had been dry if still enjoyable became something really great.

 

Next time I would leave out the cayenne.  I don't detect cayenne in real Stouffer's.  And I could be wrong but I don't think Stouffer's uses cheese.

I bought mine on Etsy. The kits looked the same, so I looked for the best price. 
 

Next time I make it I’ll try to make sure I have some limes, fried garlic, and scallions (which I thought I had on hand). I chose the spicy and it had a nice kick to it.

The request was for lasagna. But we started with aperitivo and snacks...

Two types of lasagna from I Sodi and asperges au beurre moussant. For dessert, torta di cioccolato.

We are trying to screen all of the Oscar nominated movies, and are quite close to seeing all of them.  Based on what was left, last night's (rather unfortunate) choice was Borat Subsequent Moviefilm.  I do not think it will be taking home any golden statues.

Thai Coconut Curry Lamb Shanks - one pot cooking = Instant Pot. Luckily, everything was ready and being consumed when the power went off! There was a pole fire not far from our section of the city. +500 customers affected. They estimated 3 hours for repairs, but they surprised us with their swiftness. Power was restored in 45 minutes. We enjoyed our supper with candlelight.

Naan was also present to sop up the plate (store bought frozen)

My sister is visiting. When I asked what she’d like to have for dinner she answered immediately “Matjes Haufrauenart mit Bratkartoffeln” (or soused herring “housewife style” with home fries). Little one heard Matjes and requested sushi with it - so we had both: Matjes (with sour cream, onion, pickles and apples) plus homefries and DIY temaki sushi ...
