Dear Food: I hate myself for loving you.

Today the husband smoked ribs. Also it is tradition in my hometown to start making pettole, from now up to the end of the year any occasion is good. Usually they are dipped in vincotto but I didn’t have it, so I dipped them in honey and some rolled in sugar. Since it was too much dough I made a focaccia that is basically 100% hydration. Some salad and asparagus on the side.

I too was inspired by @liuzhou spicy ribs dinner but I did it lazy woman style.
Seasoned the ribs, seared and cooked them in the IP for 20 minutes. Drained them well, then stir-fried them in the hot oil with Toban sauce.
Eaten with stir-fried asparagus and bell peppers, and jasmine rice.

Dessert was a ripe persimmon each. Every year about this time, one of our grocery chains bring in 2 lb bags of these persimmons, @ $3.98 / 2 lb bag. Each bag usually has 5 - 6 persimmons, which is an amazing price. I keep them in the fridge, and check them every day to bring out ripe ones. My hubby loves these, but I prefer the firmer, flatter fuyu variety.

APO chicken and romaine.  Pseudofuku ranch.  (I declined to open a fresh jar of pickled ramps.)  Informed by Vivian Howard's Little Green Dress.  Some days life is just a bowl of cherries, even if they are not Rainier.

Finishing with milk and cookies.

Mushroom risotto. Oyster, champignon, dried porcini. Vegetable stock, some milk, fresh thyme, pepper. Not too rich - finished with a little butter and Parmesan. Topped with mushrooms in reduced wine, butter, nutmeg, thyme.

Wine, salad and sweet mustard pickles.

I don't really want to post the piccies because the lighting is so bad, but we hosted a smoking sunday funday.

Started off with Buffalo (not pictured) and Honey BBQ wings (air frier) for hunger tamers. Unsauced wings on side for my gluten free-er and my low carber.

Then on to the nibblies. Un pictured nuts and biccies.

Lamby bits (the bits the butcher told us would be tough from the whole one we bought - it was rubbish tbh).

your MBS look delicious .

what are the ' stands ' on the surface ?

Fresh thyme - the twigs. Rather than tie a bouquet garni together, I throw everything in individually. Then I get to curse myself out as I try to pick out all the remnants.

@Franci Challenging! You have cooked for them before I take it.  How did you do the tofu? Are they fairly accepting of your efforts? Looking forward to how it progresses.

My mother in law moved in with us today, she was relying on having someone cooking for my father in law and herself, not many good meals in the last 6 months. I will try to feed her well😊. I fried shrimps, Chinese pork roast, tofu, salad, sauté kale and steamed rice not pictured

If the choice was starvation or kale I too might choose kale.

Thrifty Kitchen tonight. Had to use up the lamb scraps. Wasn't much left on the leg. Hand minced and bulked up with a mix of frozen and fresh veg. I would usually consider sweetcorn in a shepherd's pie an abomination (and I am hoping Liuzhou misses this post entirely 😂) but needs must (I panic bought a frozen packet of mixed peas and corn at the start of all this and it has to be used).

Into individual Rammekins

Topped with a fluffy mash crown adorned with grated cheddar cheese and baked.
