I looked for it in my local TJ's previously.  No luck.  Hoping it shows up for Holiday supplies.

The Beecher's cheese box is in the Tucson stores, so I would think it would be showing up in the Phoenix stores.

I agree that the TB is pretty good and very handy

with the advent of the iPot , I now make my own

ground fresh 93 % fat turkey   //  some cream for ' panade ' effect //  jarred tomato sauce / Italian herb blend  ( Penzey's Tuscan Sunset ) that has a little

fennel in it.

oddly easy w the iPot , and easy to do when Im in production mode

Fz in blocks and vac seal.

@cdh

Ill look into the Fz Lasagna next trip.

this wine was sampled at Tj's the other day :

DSC07826.thumb.jpg.d1d1df7be8021742bc8d0fdae444fd91.jpg

DSC07831.thumb.jpg.091fa69a305e5a24a7118c5023120775.jpg

it is dry , no benzene , and good mouth feel . good body .  mild astringency in the finish

an excellent higher end  " Pasta " table wine.   $ 8.99   maybe less in CA due to MA graft ?

Ill try this w a bottle of Puerta Plata  , a wine from Spain I got at TJ a while ago

several cases.   I think this wine and PP will age nicely in the basement  Wine Cellar

for a few years.

I tasted the Puerta Plata

https://goodcheapvino.com/puerta-de-plata-reserva-at-tjs/

next to the StickFigure , mentioned above.

at the same temp ,  in a small pyerx bowl each

directly out of the bottles , then I let the two wines sit for a while.

they were very similar , good higher end red table wines.

the SF had a little more fruit in the mouth , and the taste was Grapes

not cherries , raspberries etc.

both improved after an hour in the pyrex bowls.  I used them for their larger surface area.

both would be fine , for my tastes , with full flavored meat dishes

and fill flavored cheese.

I think in my area the SF is a dollar more.

I think both would improve if you were able to keep them at a constant temp for

as long as you can stand it.

closet , basement , fancy-pants cellar.

I bought a bottle of the Stick Figure to try.  Not sure what grapes are used here but I generally like the blends of Rhone varietals often made in the Paso area where this is from.   It's also $8.99 here and is listed in the TJ's Thanksgiving flyer.

@blue_dolphin

interested in your taste evaluation

do they have Pueto Plata ?

this wine is much better

after ' airing " for some bit

or do the ' pour - to-pour " method to air it out

keeps well in the refrigerator

w/o a cork.

I'll look for that one.  When you first mentioned it, I thought it was something they no longer carry.   I have one of those wine aerators that someone gave me as a gift so I'll try it with these wines.

My TJ's was selling the 2018 vintage of this Rancho Sisquoc River Red for $9.99.  They're a local winery that I visit from time to time so I was curious to try it.  As you might expect, the 2018 was very young and aggressive, even after going through the aerator.  I may pick up another bottle to two to set aside for a year or so.

if you have tasted the RSRR

and like it at that price

get  [ based on your personal budget ]

some more and keep

a central coset , not near the heat is fine

look for constant temps

and then wait

hard to do

as one gets thirsty

try it w a few bottles

you will go crazy in a few years you do not get mrs !

I also bought a hunk of the Beemster Royaal Grand Cru 12 month aged Gouda which was priced at $10.99/lb.  They've carried older and more crumbly Goudas but this one is still nice and full flavored.

The same Beemster Royaal Grand Cru 12 month Gouda is back as the Spotlight cheese at my TJs.  $10.99/lb, as it was last year.  I need to pick up a few chunks as it's good stuff!

They had the Beechers cheese samples last year. I never opened it. Do you think it’s still ok?
I used to work around the corner from the NYC flagship store and eat samples for lunch about 11 years ago. Earning 50k in Manhattan isn’t a livable wage.

If it's plain cheese and looks OK and smells OK, I'd probably give it a taste and see.  I'd be more wary of a cheese with inclusions like peppers and stuff.

You can also consider whether you want to take advice from someone who cut mold off all sides of a piece of Cabot extra sharp cheddar, grated up the clean remains and put it in my breakfast yesterday 🙃

Trader Joe's has Advent Calendars for dogs and cats. Are these new this year? Don't think I've seen them before. Anyway, our kitty received one.

They've had the dog calendars for a while. This is the first year that I've seen the cat version.

How is it going over?

I was afraid that Patrick and Michael would be able to sniff out the treats and eat more plastic and cardboard than they should whilst trying to get to the treats tempting them so!

The power of scent can be astonishing. My avatar dog was never a food stealer but my assistant's apple - he stole when she walked away. . One year of all the presents under the tree I came out in the morning and oops he had gotten his from a relative - not even food!- a pink chew toy bone-  huh?

Have to wait until Dec 1st to start the calendar, no peeking or snacking until then, ha. Kitty is interested in it though, gave it a very thorough sniff before I put it away. ☺

Mine did not have the cat or dog calendars--only the chocolate version. On the other hand, it was truffle heaven at TJ's when I went this week. I got truffle powder, truffle sauce and Black Truffle Alfredo Sauce. Also they had their holiday sets of honeys in really nice varieties.
