This marks the second time I have eaten in a restaurant since the start of COVID.  Food was good but I admit to disappointment at missing the chance of Peruvian cuisine

Order a jar of aji amarillo paste from Amazon. Mix a couple of tablespoons with two smashed garlic cloves, a dab of Mexican oregano, some lime juice and some olive oil. Use to marinate chicken wings, or thighs, or whatever, then roast.

I have to tell you that before we settled on Thai cuisine we did consider Peruvian. However, on both occasions when we have had Peruvian cuisine we have been greatly disappointed. This is not to say that there's anything wrong with Peruvian food just that we had not had a good experience with it. It would have been interesting to get your take.

The same restaurant also has a Mexican menu.  Both countries' flags fly out front.  I am not positive but I believe I was once told one owner was Peruvian and the other owner was Mexican.  Now, if they would only be open when I had a chance to eat there!

In contrast there is a good Thai restaurant about a mile and a quarter from where I live.

Oh, I stock a few varieties of dried Peruvian peppers.  I often use ground aji amarillo as a table condiment.

It is not as cold as it has been but still cold enough for Indian food in our opinion. So @Kerry Beal stopped by on her way home from Hamilton at our favourite Indian restaurant, The Bombay Grill.

Naan, lamb korma, basmati rice, butter chicken, onion bhaji and tamarind dipping sauce.

This was my plate that looked very much like Kerry's plate.

Almost the first real food I have had in a week. From one of our favourite restaurants, Rose in the Kitchen.

For @Kerry BealHunkar Begendi --cubes of lamb cooked in tomato sauce and served over puréed eggplant.

For me wonderfully tender lamb chops with rice, roasted tomato and jalapeño and a garden salad. A tiny little bit of Kerry's eggplant dish is also on my plate and I did swallow it. It wasn't really quite so bad.

This is how we know you were starving.

Your meal looks sooooo good.  Ronnie is drooling over the lamb chops.

It was so, so good. Those lamb chops practically melted in my mouth. And I was so desperate for some salad not dressed with white vinegar. Yeah the eggplant might've been a bridge too far. But really it wasn't so awful.

Wow. This was great food. That is just half of the sandwich!

I had the Menemen -- somewhat similar to Shackshuka.

I hope the denturist is making progress!

This lady's daughter took her out for lunch today. She is a teacher, so is on spring break this week. We went for Thai food, as I love it but it is not something that my husband cares for. It was a great meal, mine was "Cashew Chicken with Spicy Sauce." Came with soup, salad, a spring roll with dipping sauce and a choice of 11 entrees for 14.00, very reasonable. My daughter had pad thai and a Corona and I had a Lonetree Ginger Apple Cider, which I had never tried but will definitely seek out.

I think I may have mentioned it before but my husband says that Thai food has a "solvent taste." I have no idea what he means and tried for years to figure it out but then just gave up. I'll eat Thai on my own any chance I get.

Does he like cilantro?

No, at least he says he doesn't but if I put cilantro in something, he doesn't seem to notice. If it is sprinkled on top, he doesn't like it. I think it is something about ginger or lime leaves or the combination that he doesn't care for.

Funny you should say that but of all the things from that restaurant we enjoy the pita is not one of them! They are thick, doughy and frankly boring. Kerry jokingly asked me this last time if she should tell them that their pita stink. I suspect it may be just a different pita than we are accustomed to so I said perhaps silence was the best policy. The pita the bin right after the photographs (should have saved it for some fatoot samneh!).

Edited to add that the company as usual was fantastic.
