there is no need to add anything to them bottom of the

" Stent "

it will not affect the flavor of the chicken

however , a splash of wine , table please

might add to the aromatics of the chicken cooking

it might drive you a bit crazy ,  sniffing that up

but its for the Kitchen aromas , not the chicken.

I forgot about taking photos.   The chicken was quite good; moist and tender, I cooked it for just about one hour.

Found a box of Stove Top Stuffing in the pantry and made that to go with.  A nice, simple meal.

Garlic and Black pepper roasted Dungeness crab.

And for dessert,

Mae Dawson's Hoosier Sugar Cream Pie.

Fabulous looking crab.  Dungeness crab is my all time favourite.  Just curious, what does it cost for a live crab on the Island?  A couple of years ago a friend was returning from Vancouver to the Okanagan (4 hour drive) and she stopped at Granville St Market and picked up some live crab.  Six of us had a feast but as I recall they were about $30 for each crab.

@Okanagancook  thankfully I didn't have to pay for these crabs.  The man I work for is a sailor with friends that prawn and crab, and are very generous in sharing.

They currently sell for between $3.49 to $3.99  a 100g,  so about so about $15 to $18. lb.  Last time I bought them they were around $36 each.

Cheese blintzes, caramelized apples, sour cream, bacon

Cheese blintzes used to be the one thing that was fit to eat at IHOP. I'm not sure they're even on the menu any more.

Don't ask. Eat it.

Dinner last night started with some lovely pears and cheese:

DSCN0272.JPG.92b9dd90cbc0b982eefa784b4dd1fbef.JPG

We are getting gorgeous pears right now.  I can’t buy more than two because they are so ripe.  The cheese was just the tail end of some Spring Brook Farm  Tarentaise that was rattling around the cheese drawer.  Great combination.

They were offering tastes of White Bean Chicken Chili at Costco the other day.  I’ve never much cared for it, but this was very good.  Served with leftover green beans & potatoes and sweet corn cake:

Just made me realize that I've never been to an IHOP.    Deprived "childhood".

I'm not sure if it used to be better, or I used to be less discriminating.

IHOP is an experience that is wonderful for a child at a certain age.

but that was a long ago.  I know nothing about the chain now.

indeed the phantasmagoric experience for me was long long before IHOP

on summer trips , pulling a trailer , from CA to Arizona.

a literal @ the Crack of Dawn Breakfast

who knew there were so many choices for breakfast !

Son and his family spend a week at a summer camp in the Sierras.    There is a food hall/tent where if you can see over the bar you can order what you want.    Coming from a "healthy eating" household, being able to order maple syrup, vanilla yogurt, FROOT LOOPS!!!     Three tykes in paradise.

Thank you. Tomorrow, we are off with some friends to a new restaurant offering Palestinian fare.

I am really looking forward to the experience as Palestinian food is rather less popular and much less promoted worldwide.

I called the owner and asked him tor reserve a table and planning to have the following delectable dishes.

Palestinian food is real cooked homey food and very very tasty.

You might have to google the dishes names to discover the composition.

The dishes  will be:

1- Yogurt Kebab Aubergines. Palestinian

2- Jordanian Jameed Mansaf Lamb . Which is Lamb cooked in re-hydrated Yogurt. Jordanian

3- Mosakhan Chicken on Shrekk bread cooked with tons of onions - Pine Nuts and Tons of Sumak.  Palestinian

4-Makloubeh either Chicken or Lamb with rice and Aubergines. Palestinian

6- Maftoul Chicken or Lamb Couscous. Palestinian

7- Dessert: Tamrieh Fried pastry filled with Semolina. Palestinian

I hope I am not walking back home as it is a 30mn drive by car.......

I will post pics after the feast.

You got me there. I have no idea.

Probably going back to the restaurant in Dec and I will ask which cheese they are using.

As for walking. I am being abused as I have to swim before the food and walk afterwards.

Poor me. Sniff, sniff.........

Yesterday’s dinner was all done by my son. He is 12 years old. He worked so much for it, honestly it was more than edible,  after dinner he was so tired and a little unhappy on how some dishes turned out that he said he is taking a break from cooking for a while. On the menu: tea eggs, marinated cucumbers, braised lotus roots, steamed rice and cha  sao ( he didn’t want to go with my recipe and went for something he found on YouTube), just a tiny sweet 🤣

I was not too hungry and opted to have a Lebanese Manoucheh which is more of a breakfast fare and also eaten at any time of the day/night.

Manousheh Zaatar

Labneh

Tomatoes- Cucumbers - Black Olives and fresh plucked mint leaves
