Interesting. My Total Wine has the Lavagulin 16 @ $74.99.

Hi-Time, which often beats Total Wine is $95.99 and BevMo is $109.99 if you use their ClubBev rewards card or $129.99 without 😮

Drink appropriately, as I always say.  At the moment I'm appreciating a generous Baccarat 16 oz tumbler.  (My trip to the rum monger was last night.)

Okay, no purchases lately. Our liquor cabinet looks increasingly like a cabinet of curiosities. My tastes have simplified. But I do have a question for those of you who frequent liquor stores and are into making cocktails with varieties of interesting ingredients. There's a product called Tippleman's Burnt Sugar Syrup. I had one with no idea where it came from and, sadly, it's all used up. I had no idea it was something one might use as a cocktail mixer. I have been using it to make delicious sautéed apples, totally non-alcoholic. So I'm curious, is this something readily found in well stocked liquor stores? From going down a rabbit hole on line I'm learning that a bottle of this syrup can be had at half the price that Amazon charges, if you know where to look.

The Balvenie is to die for! My husband and I had a friend (who has since passed away) who always brought us a bottle of that when he visited. I do miss him.... and the whisky!

I just wanted to add that the one I recall with a 15 year old and I believe it was aged in a Sherry cask. It has been a few years.

I had a look at my local LCBO and closed the page quickly. The cheapest version of this whisky started at $135! I'm happy to drink Famous Grouse.

as i understand it

their are various forms of Whiskie

The Scottish have a system

and , currently it does not accept

'' tequila casts '  for what's going on there

however

in terms of Economics

a very significant tranche of Scottish Whiskie ;s

have been purchased

buy possibly Trillonaire

from Brail ?

thus cask this and cast this  and cask that

Im waiting for the Tequiza ( burnt ? ) barrel

Yeah, I was looking at the Balvenie offerings at another liquor shop and my eyeballs were very confused at the price of this one @ $6,499.99

I think 12 year Balvenie was one of the few scotch brands that didn't go up like hell during inflation

Balvenie went up from $55 to $60

But other scotch brands like 10 year Ardbeg went up from $50 to $70 (like 40% spike)

I stopped drinking Ardbeg and was buying Balvenie for a while but it doesn't have the smokey flavors of Islay scotch like Ardbeg

I'm not sure what else is out there that is still within the $60 price range?

as Ive said , Im not that much of a Whiskie Student

but if its cold outside, and indeed damp :   these Whiskies

have a place

These Cabala-ist glasses

add a delightful  influence , concentrating the

Aroma Ill claim

i enjoyed this.

it does not seem to have the light smoke

Ive been enjoying w the Laga-16

however :

it's flavour is subtle and quite complex, and it has

a larger mouth feel,

very nice.

1 unit Whiskie   1/2 unit very cold water , ice-less.

an of course the glass of The Cabal .

I hope to conclude  my study

( this year's , w leftovers ? )

when the Caol-Ila shows up.

if its above 60 F , and not damp

Whiskie might not be for me

Well … technically this wasn’t purchased at my liquor store, but was instead send by dear friend from Japan, found its way through the customs, arrived undamaged at my doorstep and has now found a new home in the mancave  …
