Another brand of sesame seeds added to the above recall. BC only, at least at this point.

Once again, the CFIA is recalling cyanide-containing apricot kernels because people keep eating the damned things despite their cyanide content. Because, you know... wellness.

I'll definitely try to keep this in mind.  It certainly beggars the mind.....

Here's another one of those awkward "sold to the foodservice industry" recalls: a particular brand of IQF corn kernels is being recalled for salmonella. It affects the three western provinces for sure, and is possibly national.

Seems like a good place to share this: The USDA has added sesame as the 9th major allergen that must be declared on food labels, effective 2023.

https://www.fda.gov/food/food-labeling-nutrition/food-allergies

Labeling here in Canada has included sesame and mustard for years. Also sulphites, which I don't think are part of the US labeling regimen.

What looks like a huge and untimely recall of ham and other pork products in the US:

This is the BULLETIN that was sent out by email yesterday.  I just saw it today, yesterday was a bit of a blur for me.

"There are, it has been said, two types of people in the world. There are those who say: this glass is half full. And then there are those who say: this glass is half empty. The world belongs, however, to those who can look at the glass and say: What's up with this glass? Excuse me? Excuse me? This is my glass? I don't think so. My glass was full! And it was a bigger glass!" Terry Pratchett

There's another sesame-related recall for salmonella, which may or may not be linked to the earlier ones upthread. The culprit in this case is Phoenicia Group's "Aoun" brand of tahineh/tahini/tahina/whatever transliteration you favor. Distribution is national on this one, so check your date codes, folks!

It's confirmed now that the corn from this recall has been sold as far east as Quebec, and may have been redistributed further. Date codes have been updated as well, but will be meaningless to anyone who's not in the business.

This isn't a food recall, but I'll throw it in here because it's seasonal. The generic "Neo Citran" equivalents sold at most Canadian pharmacy chains have been recalled over quality-assurance concerns and the presence of undeclared ingredients including acetaminophen. Nothing immediately life-threatening for most of us, but potentially problematic.

Packaged salads, shredded cole slaws, a bunch of other items processed in Yuma, AZ and Bessemer, NC sold under Dole, Kroger and other brands, are recalled due to listeria concerns. For the first time, I need to go check my refrigerator.

Here's a link to an article about it: https://www.abc15.com/news/state/packaged-salads-produced-in-yuma-and-north-carolina-recalled-due-to-listeria-concerns?_amp=true

Here's Dole's recall notice:

eta: My cole slaw mix is in the clear. Whew.
