Well, if Jewish penicillin is chicken soup, this looks kinda like the Indonesian version.  Though, I could be quite wrong, being neither Indonesian nor Jewish 🙃

My copy of 1000 Indian Recipes arrived today.  It is a rather large book...which recipe is this one?  It will be interesting how close my attempt came to the actual recipe.

I don't remember.  I tend to flip through the book since sometimes you find something in another section.  I don't find it in the potato curry section - and usually I keep track of the name of what I made.

Mackarel, I think. Rocket, sun-dried tomatoes, pecorino Romano, some honey drizzled over the leaves. I'm trying to introduce some healthy dietary traits after a couple of weeks of holiday excesses.

@Kerala – those grilled fish look amazing.  Never can decide if I prefer fish fried or grilled.

@BonVivant – I just said to @Kerala that I didn’t know if I preferred fried or grilled fish and then you post that amazing looking Churros de pescado 😄!  And your limpits remind me a bit of what they call “suck rocks” in Bermuda.  Though I don’t think people eat them much nowadays.

@Duvel – your Halloween celebration spread is wonderful and adorable.  I made chocolate cupcakes with orange frosting to give away at our church festival and to our grand nieces and nephews.  I can only imagine what their response would have been at your creations.

Lunch on Tuesday:

1-IMG_1003.thumb.jpg.27b9f320990e9c86212a509da14816a7.jpg

Leftover soy and garlic wings from a dinner out at Bonchon (Korean chicken chain).

Yesterday:

1-IMG_1021.jpg.22341140325ed3fbc6b12080879380dc.jpg

Lazy person’s egg salad and ham.  Sliced eggs with lots of mayo and mustard (sweet pickle on the side).  I became enamoured of egg and ham sandwiches in England.

Today was just some toasted baguette:

Nothing is really appealing to me today.

Nothing is appealing to me either. Started to feel flu-like symptoms last night and feeling worse today. Add to that that our furnace has just died and it's about 2 degrees celius today. Made myself Lipton chicken noodle in my favourite mug to be consumed under blankets with my lap dog keeping me compay- we shall see.

Butternut Squash and Saffron Soup with Caramelised Pistachios and Herb Salsa from Falastin

I used kabocha squash instead of butternut and pepitas instead of pistachios.  The soup itself isn't my #1 squash soup but the toppings really make it shine.  The pepitas are tossed with Urfa chile flakes, orange blossom water, maple syrup, olive oil and salt and toasted in the oven.

The herb salsa is fresh parsley and oregano leaves, shallot, chili flakes, olive oil and apple cider vinegar.
