One more week. I don't know what colour cabs are in Toronto - I think a variety of colours depending on the company. I do enjoy Private Eyes.

Lots of skyscrapers in TO these days. Very few dirt roads anymore - not like up here!

That would be the Flatiron building on Front Street - always loved that building.

Different vantage point tonight - Turner Park, top of the hill behind the Valu Mart. Overlooks the harborfront.

Then of course my usual view when I got down the hill to the condo.

Good morning. Thought you might enjoy an early morning giggle.

We have a bit of a standing joke here. If one or the other sleeps a bit later than usual, when they finally crawl out of bed they are greeted with, “Well it’s about time.  I was ready to call the coroner.”

Kerry was on a 24-hour shift in emergency and apparently her usual luck deserted her last night! Glad I don’t have to worry about the state of her health if she sleeps til noon.

Bacon butty the way it used to be before we started faffing around with our food for photographs and insisting on tableware.

Love the look of that.  I grew up on "foldovers" served on a paper towel - plate and napkin all in one.  I knew I'd communicated the beauty of a foldover when I caught Mr. Kim making a cheese and pickle one.

A lot of them are, probably more than half. The biggest local taxi fleet's cars are orange with green on top and the next largest uses black with orange tops. But you see red, yellow and black as well.

Seen in Espanola today.

Vacuum packed corn on the cob from Thailand. Not brought home.

$3 - $4 dollar chickens. Not brought home - but talked the Nurse Practitioner who was shopping in the same store into taking home half a dozen of them.

This is one of the first generation - at Canadian Tire. Only one in the store.

Two trials today.

So Anna's trial was just twice cooked - once at 160º C, then at 195º C.

Mine was a short soak in pectinase, cooked a few minutes in a 1% brine until tender, then cooked once at 160º C until starting to colour, then 195º C until brown.

Mine were crisper - but neither was totally satisfactory. Our earlier trial was better.

Out of curiosity, how much does a package of Campari tomatoes cost up there?  Here, they're usually USD4-5 a package, although sometimes they go on sale  for 2 for $5

I must confess I didn’t actually look at the price. Let me have a look at my bill. $4.99 - a bit dear in retrospect - but we wanted them!

And those lovely chickens, a really nice size...they look to be 1.4 kg.

It’s a crying shame we weren’t in the market for any!

I guess they need to sell them off before store closes Monday.

wasn't as stellar as lunches we have had in the past - Hot Hamburg

OK my conscience will not allow me to let this statement stand as is.

Next to this I rate this the second worst meal that I have endured while out with Kerry.

A tasteless, dry hockey puck hidden between two slices of bread, smothered in cornflour and colouring and accompanied by cold, overcooked, utterly bland (probably canned) carrots. I managed a couple of bites.

We headed off island today to escape the gridlock in Little Current. It is after all Haweater Weekend.  As we left the Island we began to wonder if we would ever manage to get back on!   Cars were lined up for literally miles trying to get onto the Island for the celebrations.  We were lucky. By the time we returned a few hours later we were second in line to cross the bridge and Kerry knew the way to get around the gridlock down town.

I think they are that price here in the BCInterior.  That is the only kind I buy in the winter.

I thought to myself as I looked at that lunch picture "what is that? chocolate sauce? ON BREAD? touching way overcooked carrots? Is someone pranking them?"

I went back and then I saw that little  beef puck peeking out between the bread slices.  Sorry you had that, but at least now you're "home" and the Clipper Ship has let the memory  - or a least the taste! - of that slide into oblivion...

A whole lot of people were down at Low Island tonight - not the quiet sanctuary to which I have become accustomed.

My Sunset Campari plastic package is now filled with Mountain Magic from my balcony.  They are essentially the same tomatoes.

If one wants store bought tomatoes Sunset Campari are the way to go.
