Lunch today at the Other Half Cafe (the other half of the other half being a pawn shop) - the medical student chose the chili option - I had the corn soup option (that would be posole). Lunch includes the soup, fry bread, a drink and dessert.

On the way home I stopped in the Flee Market - nothing much of interest with the exception of a 'what the hell is it?' item. I had a vague idea that it was something that was sold with vintage Filter Queen vacuum cleaners and indeed after a bit of time I found it online. Filter Queen de-MOTHer.

Dropped in to Barney's to see what might be new - todays give aways were cabbages a bit beyond their prime and a whole lot of potatoes - of which we have plenty. Picked up a few odds and ends - most exciting the pure peanut oil $8 for 2 liters.

I use that brand of peanut oil, it is not cheap.  Nice find.

I love posole.  But so much styrofoam...  it would make me feel guilty for days!

I like the looks of that cheesecake (?) - lots of graham cracker crust and what looks like canned cherry pie filling.  A trashy treasure!

What’s the red and white thing, extreme right just above the zester? Looks like it has two little hands in it.

Some of them look like the head is bigger than the base. How do you unmold them?

Kerry - Did you find that juicer at the bargain joint as well!?

If so, (as you know) I am very jealous!

LOL

The search continues!

Good morning. Forgot to post photographs of Kira’s dinner last night.

Tacos filled with peccadillo and cheddar cheese. They seemed to go down rather well.

The second of the apples whose labels fell off! Almost certain this is the Envy. I loved the texture. It was crisp and juicy. I don’t think it was as tasty as the Jazz which I had the other day. This, regrettably, is the last of the Unexpected Cheddar from Trader Joe’s. I am hooked on this cheese and we are a long, long way from any Trader Joe’s.

Since Kerry is doing a 24 hour shift in emergency we don’t plan any formal or even informal meals.  We just feed ourselves as best we can.  There is something to be said for both ways of feeding one’s face!  We can each have things the other doesn’t like.

Right now I am plotting a melange of Cuban Picadillo and Mexican? Texan? nachos with a nice Wisconsin cheddar.

Kerry is currently living a 10-year-old’s dream. She is going hellbent for leather, lights flashing and sirens screaming to Sudbury. Lord knows when she’ll get home.

Kerry is on her way back now at a somewhat slower pace.

So the Tex-Mex plan gave way to the sort of Irish plan.  Potato chips instead of corn chips.
