I spooned some lentils under my poached egg:

Breakfast part 1: Shrimp wontons or ravioli (What's the difference?) with red vinegar dip.

 

 

Breakfast part 2: Repeat the above.

Hard to see in the bright morning sun (not that I am complaining about the sun) polenta with fried bologna and an egg.

Egg, avocado & bacon onigirazu with brown rice (Massa organics) 

Somehow my egg cooked with an unintended bubble on one side which I filled with the avocado slices 🙃

My standard breakfast lately has been Greek yogurt and fruit. Today instead of having it at home I had it at an airport bar, where the plating is much worthier of sharing, though the fuit quality left something to be desired.

I also had an airport breakfast - Huevos Rancheros, rice & beans from Loteria Grill @ LAX

No amazing plating but it will keep me safe from plane food!

A couple of recent breakfasts –

 

Eggs, hash browns and Father’s country ham:

 

Biscuits and jams & honey:

 

 

Another one was more of that Father’s ham on sweet potato biscuits and a cinnamon roll.  The biscuit and roll were from bakeries in Smithfield VA that we went to on our recent trip.

 

 

Sorry for the crappy pictures.  Mr. Kim went to work with my camera in his car and all I had was my extremely crappy cell phone!

Last night's sourdough,

 

toasted this morning for breakfast.

Still trying to tempt Moe's appetite. Trying to get more
protein into him.

 

 

Steak and eggs for breakfast. 
With toasted homemade sourdough baguette.
He did good. Ate one and a half eggs and 2/3rds of the steak.

That should keep him going for a good part of the day while I'm at work.

A piece of quiche Lorraine from Kroger:

I've spoken before about Ukrops - a former Richmond VA grocery chain that closed years ago.  They still make certain bakery and prepared foods and provide them to area stores.  This quiche is one of those items.  It is actually quite good.  Especially the texture - very creamy and fluffy.  The crust is good, too - nice and flaky.  The only thing that I don't care for is the inclusion of onions.  This is my own taste - I just don't care for onion in eggs.

That’s a coincidence....I had a hankering for some Marmite on toast this morning but couldn’t find the little jar.  It is an acquired taste...kinda like beef drippings on toast.

I’ve never had beef drippings on toast, but I like Marmite and Promite too.

Beef drippings on toast. I had that at a restaurant in London, a long long time ago. My memory is that it was pretty damn good! Thanks, Okanagancook, good times.

Never had "promite" (sounds like a knockoff). Would eat vegemite if there's absolutely no other options, life and death kind of situation. Bovril for me, preferably with some really old cheese on it. I sometimes bring Bovril on holidays. Surprised to see how common it is in Namibia, and the jars are big. I mean the size of peanut butter jar.

 

(Ex) colleages used to make condescending comments and faces whenever I ate it. To irritate them I ate it even more often. Never tried it but slagged it off anyway.

 

Not a fan of any thing Italian but this is a good cheese. Haven't come across it again since but fortunately I have access to good stuff from other established cheese-producing countries..

I've found Bovril in China (and some knock-offs) but never Marmite. Life is cruel!
