It doesn’t always have to be about neatness. Some days you want a sandwich where the filling falls out on all sides.   My HLT —  ham, lettuce and tomato on store-bought multi grain bread with some olives  – pitted question? unpitted? and some (fake) chicharron.

The attendant at the olive bar when alerted that there were no olives with their pits still in place insisted on confusing me and another customer by using pitted and unpitted to mean the same thing. (It was a little like “Who’s on First?”)  There was some eye rolling between me and the other customer I can tell you.   What we both ended up with was some pitted and some unpitted much to our chagrin.  It would’ve made quite a skit comedy TV.

What is a fake chicharron?  Looks like a pretty good pork rind to me!

To me these things are to real pork rind as Pringles are to potato chips.  I have had some that actually taste like pork.  These didn’t despite the ingredient list which claims that they are nothing more than pork, lard and salt.  Perhaps I should not have used the word fake.  Perhaps factory-made would have been a better choice of words.

I bought the rolls for what I hoped would be soft shell crab sandwiches, but the season is off to a slow start. They were ordered, but never materialized. This pork tenderloin schnitzel with mayo, hot house tomato slices and lettuce from the garden was pretty good, though.

Yorkies . Served with mushroom gravy, which was delicious, but too ugly to take a picture of.

One of the puddings was hungry and attempted to eat his neighbour, very rude of him!

Having learned how to ferment my own half-sours, I can assure you I am never without them now. I can and keep a variety of pickles, but half-sours, to preserve the great crispy snap, I make fresh all year long and keep in the fridge.

Recipe here.

Nice! That's my kinda lunch, mostly low-carb.

Hmmm.  I’m hiding a fair amount of bread underneath that meat.:o  I aspire to be lower carb but fail more often then I succeed. :$

Yeah, I noticed the bread. But there are some relatively low-carb breads.

Wegmans carries Ba-Tampte pickles - at least the half sours - here in Buffalo (I think of you every time I notice them).

Not sure if your shiny new double decker Wegmans does, but it’s worth checking out!

Been to the DD wags.

exceptionally impressive.

the BS pickles above are much much better than Ba-T's

many times in the past only 1/2 of the jar of Ba-Ts was crunchy

BTW the DD-Wag  sense out coupons

5 $ off 25 $$ purchase    for 4 weeks

and its good on their massive selection of Booze

many prices quite close to TotalWine , which is near by.

If that is horseradish I see then I congratulate you on your generosity. That’s about how much I would like on that sandwich.  Balance be damned. xD

Two-course lunch.

20180430_124238.thumb.jpg.1611f52f0bcd1cde5032c65561f320c3.jpg

Fresh, local asparagus with over easy eggs.

20180430_125901.thumb.jpg.fda08aff008fdd01ccdeef6cc3f792d0.jpg

I had egg yolk left. That was unacceptable.

20180430_130211.thumb.jpg.c1706e14dcdaf9c2335d06bcc1e224ef.jpg

So I fried up some hash browns to soak it up.
