Over here on the Home Made Knives and other Home Made Kitchen tools - our own @patris has been making lovely ceramic dipping bowls. When I was down for the Christmas production party we were using one of her ceramic bowls as a dipping bowl because it was just the right shape and depth and we got to talking about how perfect it would be with a built in @Chris Hennes dipping wire. She ran with the idea and went a step further - adding an extra amount of clay on the bottom for heat retention.

I've talked her into making some for any of us who might want to take when home when they come for the workshop. She says she'll meet us at Tomric on Thursday. Anyone who wants one and isn't going to be at Tomric - just say the word and we'll bring one back for you. $30 US will get you one of these beauties. I've got my order in already!

Let's start another list here -

Very cool idea @patris! I'm definitely interested in a bowl if I can remove the wire for microwaving and the ability to use the pretty bowl for other stuff. Can I let you know which colors I prefer or would it be easier for you to make that choice and have us pick from your selection at Tomric?

The wire will definitely be removable, and the bowls can be used for anything you like - the notches are quite small.  I’m trying to figure out the glaze color situation - I may post a photo of available options and have people choose. I should have that figured out in the next week or so.

I’m in for a bowl as well. I am pathetic at dipped chocolates, and I’d love any help to get better. And I sorta collect cool pottery.

does any know approximate time it takes to get across the border. Trying to

Lewiston would be the closest to cross - can't comment on the crossing times.

No master classes for me, but I plan to be at the workshop, and my husband will join us all for dinner.

Can I just say that anyone not signing up for the Saturday dinner is making a huge mistake???? That is a highlight of the weekend. I really am not a mushroom fan, but I love the mushroom soup! Everything is fantastic.

It seems I’m the only nontitling melanger.....so, I ask the group, do I want a tilting vs non tilting?

If I was going to buy one, I'd go with the non-tilting... so I'm no help whatsoever if you want someone to help change your mind. Regardless of whether or not it's actually the case, the non-tilting model just looks more solid to me. With an 8 lb. capacity, lifting it off of the base wouldn't be an issue for me. I understand that it may be for some so having the tilting model available is a nice option.

It's kinda like wrestling a gorilla... you don't stop when you're tired, you stop when the gorilla is tired.

Bob, I like my tilting one. its very sturdy. I run it about 50 hours a week.

So just to make things interesting here is the recipe list for the nut class.

We will limit the class to MAXIMUM 16 - there will be 7 machines hopefully to play with.

Le Praline 50% Hazelnut

Hazelnut Paste

Gianduja

- Milk Lactee Superieur peanut butter

- White chocolate Zephyr and Pistachio
- Hazelnut dark chocolate 54%

Approach to Bean to Bar

Vegan Almond Hazelnut spread

It will be as hands on as possible and also tv style. But this class is the result of 2 years of work between the Ez temper crew and Premier Melangers

Stay tune for the second class description

Kerry, I had been on the list for both master classes but mysteriously dropped off the last version. To be clear, I want to take both.

ETA thanks for fixing!!!

I'm going to put a paypal.me link here - if you go to the link and click on 'about this business' it will show you the costs in Canadian funds for the various workshop options.

Paypal.me link

So who wants to go first and we'll see if this works?

To ensure your space in the workshop I will need your payment no later than April 6, 2018.

Beyond that date - if you haven't paid - you will be considered to be on the wait list and and will have to see if someone drops out and wants to sell you their space.

As in previous years - there are no refunds - you can sell your space to someone who is interested in coming but missed the deadline. In that case payment will have to be arranged between yourselves.

Well let me know if it worked! Seemed to on my end.  Paid CAD $365 for workshop, one master class and the dinner!
