the kringle @ TJ 's is top notch :

they seem to have seasonal flavors 

 

and it freezes well .  

 

Ive been sent , directly from the bakery 

 

the same , but different ' flavors '

 

outstanding , warmed up 

 

w a little butter 

 

and your favorite coffee 

 

you made for yourself .

 

plan on seconds 

 

then maybe a nap.

Back when our family used to get together for Christmas, I often ordered one of these to share around. I think we especially loved the apricot and almond fillings. Gosh, that brings back memories! We all loved those kringles!

Yes!  Really good.

 

I also bought a bunch of snacks for the drive on our recent road trip.

I've tried the ones on the right and they're pretty good. The ones on the left are still unopened.  There was one other seedy, cheesy bite thing which was okay as well.

TJ's has had fresh refrigerated fish for a while 

 

in these semi-vac packs .   they have other varieties , and also wild salmon.

 

the wild has been previously frozen.

 

salmon is a favorite of mine .  this is farmed off Norway .  it's around elsewhere  ( Aldi )

 

so I thought Id finally try it.   I got

and the ones in the back of the case might be fresher , there is a date on them

I was very pleased there was no odor when opened , and very very little liquid in the pack

 

and no bones .

 

so :

I realize this is a bit of a No No , but it was delicious .

 

and   so far so good.

properly done , it is said to .

 

I chose the fresh , and I know its farmed 

 

I might try the wild    '  previously froze " 

 

I looked them over :

 

most were the tail area .  as the tail does the work 

 

very little salmon fat there ,  no idea where the trance's went

 

that were just below the head 

 

a good restaurant ?

 

and  , as these are processed and frozen

 

and if properly so , 

 

eating as sashimi ,  you are hoping 

 

people // robots // machinery 

 

has washed its hands .

what I should have emphasized :

 

being a bit careful @ My TJ's

 

this would be an outstanding piece of fish

 

for any of your favorite cooking method :

 

because :

 

1)  right there in front of me

 

2) no fish odor at all.

 

ie not goi ng to travel for better

 

they do have pollocks

 

Ill try that , passing the various tests  personal

 

it might be a fish I can ' cook with "

Ive been using my CSO  ( original unit w plenty of patina )

 

as a small oven that's sealed .  

 

on conventional bake .  the seal keeps the moisture in the oven from various

 

frozen items , and allows longer cooking times , if not an increase in temp

 

so that the items get to be quite crisp , yet still moist .  indeed

 

the CSO tray holds about one package of the various fz items ive tried 

 

including the various battered fish offering , etc

 

this is the famous Orange Chicken :

right out of the freezer

plated.    the package has two plastic packets of orange sauce , included 

 

but its not very good.   TJ's has a jared General Tsu sauce , which is better

 

and can be improved.

 

the amount of crispness is up to you .

 

a nice feature of the CSO

I finally remembered to look for 

 

delice  de bourgogny   @ TJ's

 

its s fine cheese :   very creamy 

 

w a bit of a bite.

 

its similar in texture to St Andre

 

which might be a bit more buttery 

 

very nice 

 

I think I got the idea from @blue_dolphin

Just a very small correction, with respectful apologies to @rotuts: it's "Délice de Bourgogne" with an e at the end, not a y. Lovely stuff! I've never had the TJ's version but I love it from our local stores!

 

I only add the spelling correction in case somebody has a very literal search engine. I'm sure the capitals and fancy diacritical are, well, not critical. 🙂

It is indeed a lovely cheese and the wedges they sell at TJs are one of the rare soft cheeses that are nicely ripened and ready to eat at purchase.

its the include sauce that's terrible .

I used to buy it. Prefer it crunchy with sweet chii sauce as dip.

Here's a list of new or new-ish TJ's products that includes the canned San Marzanino tomatoes that @rotuts asked about over here

 

I'm surprised to see the Diamond Crystal salt and will have to check out the price.  I wonder if people have tired of paying an arm and a leg for the stuff and left the company with excess stock?

 

I'll probably treat myself to the Golden Caramel Swirl Ice Cream. I usually try the new cheeses unless they are full of weird flavorings mixed in so I will try the Bucheron Soft Ripened Goat's Milk Cheese, El Cortijo Dorado and the Orange Rind Saint Paulin Cheese

 

Maybe I'll try a bag of that orange chicken.  It's always on lists of favorite TJ's products but I've never tried it. I'll likely skip the sauce and make up something else.  Maybe using some of that TJ's Ginger Spread I bought a while back.

I keep saying I am going to make a trip to Trader Joe's--I'm way past due. I need to bump it up so I can get some Diamond Crystal, cheeses and cat food. I try not to have to go during the hottest months even though I take a cooler with me. I have no idea why TJ's won't build one closer to us. We are a hotbed of affluent neighborhoods and people who love to eat--they would do well around here.
