Think of it as a Top Chef Quickfire Challenge. You get two ingredients of your choosing, water, a heat source, and whatever kitchen equipment you want. Nothing else. What's possible?

Caramelized onions.

That's only one ingredient -- you get immunity in the elimination round, Anna.

Carmelized onions need some kind of fat, Peter.

Yes, I always add butter. But can't a chopped onion in a warm pan sweat, become translucent, then get brown and gooey on it's own sugar w/o the lipid?

Sugar and corn syrup: hard candy (true it would be better with a flavor, but I did make some a couple of weeks ago to test a new mold of a Boston Terrier and the neighbor kids were happy enough)

Three ingredient dinner tonight: sopa de ajo

garlic, olive oil, water, bread.

add a poached egg and you're in business.

Pix in the dinner thread later.

Going for the single ingredient, no water and a heat source - grated cheese tuilles.

Kerry, can you elaborate? Just cheese?

Nothing I love better than the bits of cheese that ooze out of cheese biscuits, that brown and crisp up. So to make tuiles, you simply grate cheese, lay it in rounds on parchment, or sprinkle in a non stick pan. Picture here.

That's the spirit. Three's a good number.

Malted Barley, Hops, and Water = Beer. This will ferment naturally and become a nice lambic in a few years.

I could really go for some artichokes with butter right about now...

I do not know if I could do this without salt in the artichoke prep- but....possible

Thick homemade yogurt with a REALLY ripe banana mashed into it. Of course over cereal would make it a meal.
