Panettone French toast for breakfast per David Lebovitz’s recipe. Made with my $6.49 Aldi panettone. Very satisfied.

Soup for snowy days, bean, peas, cabbage, onion, elbow Mac’s, basil, Parmesan, etc. orange pastry cream, candied zest, scrap piece of pastry dough. @JoNorvelleWalker I used one cup of freshly squeezed orange juice for the liquid , along with some strips of orange peel to make half of your vita mix custard/ crème patisserie, microwave method.

Last night's diner, with a salad... Pan pizza? Focaccia? Flatbread? Baked on a sheet pan, half mozzarella and tomato, half imported baby artichokes and tomato. Parmesan sprinkled on it all.

Yes ma’am, Rancho Gordo. Hoppin John, most likely.

@pattiRG? Rancho Gordo? Hey! I'll eat the misshapen ones!!

Rejoice! Rejoice. My Chinese burrito place has reappeared!!! The have merely relocated to the next street but forgot to post such information on the old premises door or window. Guess what was for dinner tonight!

Howdy @keneru. What kind of food or events do you do? Where in the city are you? Once upon a time, I lived in San Francisco. But that was rather a long time ago. Welcome (back) to eGullet.

Are you kidding me? Your cookies look amazing, too! SO much work. I love the dipped peanut butters.

I baked an extra Tourtiere so that I could freeze slices. Moe loves it for breakfast and makes a quick dinner on a work night. Sliced the extra pie into 8 pieces and I still had 3 leftover pieces from the Christmas Eve pie and put them into the vacuum bags and froze them prior to vacuum processing. If you process them before freezing the vacuum will squish the pie. But if you wait until they are frozen, this doesn't happen. He now has 11 slices in the freezer.

If that’s not a supportive reaction, I don’t know what is! Thank you.😍 One of the reasons I chose chocolate chip cookies for the fridge meal is that the dough doesn’t require chilling and I don’t have to take out and use the stand mixer, even when I do a double batch, and I needed a simple item on the menu. Oh, and they’re delicious! (I am bothered that I chose such a misshapen cookie for the pic, though.) 🤨 The plan for next week is that the meal will be delivered New Year’s Day, and it will be RG black eyed peas and rice, fried cabbage with tasso, cornbread (with stuff in it), and I haven’t decided if I will be using enough sausage or other pork items in the black eyes to count as a meat item, or if I will also cook something else. (I can’t wait to do a meal without pork, though!)

Shelby, your food speaks to me. (“Eat me!”) Your chocolate crinkle cookies have so much more crinkle than my lemon crinkles, and your broccoli salad looks better than mine, too. It all looks stellar, and damn, that was some work! And @chromedome, the people in your life who receive those beautiful treats are very lucky, indeed. I was going to proudly display my cookie tray, but hahahahahahaha, joke’s on me. 😜 Not that we’re in competition. 😍 So I will humbly display my cookie tray. From left: salted vanilla toffee cookies, dark chocolate cranberry oatmeal with walnuts, dark chocolate dipped peanut butter, chocolate chip with flaky salt, lemon crinkle cookies.

Recent Dive trip in Grace Bay!! Ceviche!! I also ate the pistol!! ( Raw ) The "conch pistol," a digestive appendage from the conch, is culturally believed to be a natural aphrodisiac, often called the "Bahamian Viagra," boosting vitality and sexual health due to its rich nutrients like lean protein, zinc, magnesium, iron, and B12, though scientific proof for aphrodisiac claims is lacking; the meat itself is highly nutritious

I've had the pump apart. the lovejoy is welded to the shaft, so it's not possible to fully disassemble it (well, I do own grinders....). I think the pump bushings (it doesn't have proper bearings) are shot, allowing the rotor shaft to wobble and bind. Lacking a machine shop, I don't think that's something I can repair. If I had a lathe, I'd bore the covers and fit some real bearings. the vp215 sells for about $1200 these days, I think.

What does a new sealer cost?

I'd do "A4 box induction" on google and ebay. You'll get irrelevant stuff, but you'll catch what you want.

Is it possible to disassemble the pump? It may not be manufactured to be maintainable, but if you can ID the maker and the model number... Maybe there is a way to service it.

Fuses came today, and with some struggle, I got it back together. (the machine isn't actually that hard to work on, I just didn't want to take more of it apart than necessary. If I had a wiring diagram, I'd have taken the whole top/side assembly off, but I didn't feel like figuring out the wires. ) Pump is shot, turns a fraction of a rotation, and then stalls. So, what are the options? It looks like a replacement pump is ~300. Anyone fit another pump, either to the existing motor, or a complete assembly? It looks like the motor is simply switched on and off, no clever controls.

Where i live, you are supposed to eat seafood on NYE and eat pork and sauerkraut on NY day. It must be a PA dutch thing. I can't imagine eating seven fishes on Christmas too.

Yeah, there were a lot of varieties. Too bad I can't bring any home... But I'll be in Changi for a few hours next week, but I don't know if I'll have the stomach space by then! - Yesterday
