  2. Just wanted to quickly say thanks to all for the suggestions. Took as many as I could and they greatly helped the trip.
  3. Haul from recent trip to London. All of it a good deal cheaper than the states, even with the current exchange rate
  4. I *detest* people that waste good food for clicks like this. The ponytail guy is usually just chucking barbecue sauce into smashed up pringles and cheese, he features on chef reacts fairly often
  5. So, you've just splurged on a 1-pound Wagyu ribeye. How you gonna cook it? Show of hands... who said "poach that bad boy in maple syrup"? Anyone? Anyone? ("...Bueller?")

But I don't eat durian pizza!

Blasphemous! But then again, you eat durian ice cream with a shovel, no less!

... and that's the best one! Although, I've always thought pizza is over-rated.

I wasn't really hungry. Started with some chips and salsa. Then had some sliced peach and half an almond croissant from my neighbor's daughter's bakery. Stuffed!
  11. @liamsaunt Thank you . your trips are always a pleasure to follow. love the look of that fish market.

This forum needs an "I'm so sorry" reaction. That vague attempt at a "pizza" upsets me.

    Dinner 2025

Succumbed to my annual pizza delivery, having missed two years. This is the only vaguely edible pizza in town. 黑松露帕尔马火腿比萨 (hēi sōng lù pà ěr mǎ huǒ tuǐ bǐ sà), Black Truffle, Parma Ham Pizza. The promised 'basil' turned out to be rocket / arugula and came in its own plastic bag to be put on top and wilt in the residual heat. It wasn't bad, but over-salted.

    Dinner 2025

Colds and flu like nasties have resulted in not much cooking going on here lately. Tonight we had a nice pork chop, cabbage and bacon with zucchini and stewed apple.
  15. Five hours. Overdone but not inedible. The ribs did not look done when I checked at three hours. Also there was a problem that I neglected to replenish the pellets when they ran out.

Me. I'm faster. I get them before he knows they're gone. In all fairness I don't think he thinks about it unless it's right in front of him. If you like the oysters it doesn't serve to broadcast it.

    Always - the cook.
  18. The fishing charters are very expensive, and the water out where they go is pretty rough, so I have not been tempted to go. I often see people fishing from the shore with pricy gear, but have never seen anyone catch anything 😂. I am happy to patronize the markets instead. I know in the off season you can go down to the fish piers and buy directly from the boats when they come in, but I don’t think that’s offered in the summer. We drove home this morning, but are heading back out on the weekend for a couple more weeks. The first week will be in Wellfleet, and then we are going over to Martha’s Vineyard for a week. Final breakfast at the Inn. I was done with rich food! After we checked out of the hotel, we walked over to the fish pier to go to the market. It was extremely windy. Boats lined up I took a couple pictures of the fish case. We bought tuna for tomorrow night, and had black sea bass this evening (I’ll put that photo on the dinner thread) Thats it for this visit.
  19. I had some candied fruit left from making panettone and I decided to toss that in at the end. I wish now that I hadn't but they are still good.
  20. @Tropicalsenior Those look really good. What are the red bits I see poking out?

The real question is who gets the oysters? 😊
  23. Ribs again, pork spareribs. Temperature 93C, as last time, with sweetwood blend. I salted for two hours and used a rub recipe from Meathead. Wish me luck.
  24. Since no one else has mentioned it -- till midnight tonight, Penzeys is having 25% off everything, including saffron and vanilla.

Speaking of bell peppers . . . Chicken stir-fried with lemongrass and chile, from Andrea Nguyen's 'Into the Vietnamese Kitchen'. I think this was the first recipe I cooked from this book, way back when I did my eGullet foodblog. Anyway, marinate chicken thigh chunks with curry powder, fish sauce, and sugar. Stir-fry chopped lemongrass, shallot, and chiles (I used a mix of serrano and red bird chiles). Add the chicken and squares of red bell pepper (I also used Poblano chile, 'cuz why not), and sear on both sides. Simmer with coconut milk until reduced, and then finish with chopped cilantro. I also added garam masala, because the curry powder was not new. Rich, aromatic, and full of flavor with some latent heat. I should make this more often. Jasmine rice and sliced cucumbers to go with.

Aww, you're so sweet. My husband is a nice husband too. He eats all the breast meat and the legs and leaves me the thights and the wings because that's what I like. Also I love Shoemaker's Chicken. Do you use only cherry peppers? That's a good solution for someone like me who has a baby-ish dislike for bell peppers.
  27. Apparently it's "Delicious" according to my son.
