I asked if he ate everything for the day food. He said half the pasta was thrown as too full and the lasagne went after a bite - the lasagne may have been good but in his words "sneaky eggplant using assholes" 😂. It's the one veg he just can't do.

Too bad about the eggplant! I thought the lasagna and lamb korma looked appealing, the pasta not so much. I'm an eggplant fan, but I suppose that if I'd missed the "vegetarian" label and was expecting meat even I would have been disappointed.

Swiss chard in these parts too.  Everything above looks good save maybe the roast beef.  Pretty sure I would have enjoyed the sneaky asshole's eggplant.

Okay for dinner we had a Chili, Rice & Veg situation. Suprised how often they use parsnips - I'm not a massive fan and they are quite expensive over here... compared to UK anyway.

" The worst Quiche I have ever tasted in my life - tomato sauce couldn't even fix it " (rational world - how would tomato sauce fix a quiche 🤢). Impressive title. I have made some baaaaddd Quiches in my time 😂. But apparently it was texture - like jelly.

I feel like I'm learning a lot about Australia and what is considered food fuel for hard physical work (I fear that, as an American, my idea of working-man food is heavily influenced by the cook wagons in western movies 😄) and being entertained by eG's funniest poster: "I see you toe...I see you".  LOLOLOL

One of my in-town geology jobs (Hammering drill-pipe down through the street in a residential area on Sunday morning? Sure) the drillers liked to have lunch at the same working class pub (cute waitress who kept the aerobics show on the big screen to distract the patrons). The lunch specials all came with mashed potatoes. My favourite was spag bol, garlic bread, and mash with gravy. Good way to get your carbs.

They are interesting. I think I've told the story of my Aussie BIL at a restaurant here in Los Angeles. The waitress asks "soup or salad?". He thinks the salad is "super" and replies "yes beautiful" - cuz everything is "super and beautiful" We finally coached him into the realization that he needed to tell her his choice.

I think the feet is a very Queensland thing. You never wear socks if you dont have work boots/shoes on and shoes in the house is a big no. The kids can run bare foot on rocks at full pelt in a way that... well.. makes my toes curl.

One of my favourite days of the year is the one where its cold enough to wear slipper socks and the short week following it!.

And now back to food before we get busted. Something cheese related perhaps 😂

Okay to cap the swing. We start with a dinner of Chicken Fajita with the super traditional sides of mash and veg. Budgets tight so one slice of carrot only per person 😂

He still takes fruit but, like the toasties, those photos are getting boring.

And here concludes the most recent swing of how many carbs can one consume in a week. Due to the nature of the work he's actually losing weight, not that he needs to, despite the carbs. Coal shots are vast compared to Gold so he is a lot more active. I am, perhaps like you guys, a bit suprised there is not more meaty meals / muscle food.

Hi ho! Hi ho! And off to work he goes...

We're not really going to start off strong. Dinner tonight is a Pepperoni Pasta and Veg. I really need to find out when they get supplies. It looks a little ehm. Dry.

Quiche Apparently. Pastry on top. But he's not sure, will let you know tomorrow.

Now. My husband has fairly big hands compared to me. But they're just average man sized hands as far as I know. He's not a giant. He wears just XL black gloves for BBQ. So....

Sweet Chilli Chicken Wrap.

He made "the boys" pies with the kids leftover taco meat with smoked beef, salsa, jalapenos and cheese to go in their pie warmer for smoko. So he won't be hungry. He's not ready for me to share his personal creations yet 😒

You and George Burns!

LOL I remember him grumbling in an interview when his doctor sharply restricted his use of salt.

"Have you ever tasted a fried egg without salt?" he asked the interviewer rhetorically. "Never mind the egg, it tastes like the chicken wasn't getting laid."

Have to admit I've not read this thread beyond getting the gist.    Not hard rock miners but back in our youth we spent most of our weekends out of the city, panning and dredging on the Yuba River.    Our mining partners were serious about gold but not food.   I mean, food  was dreadful.   The other couple were senior in this endeavor and had established a template.   Breakfast, either at a village diner or on the river was bacon and eggs.    Lunch was a can of Vienna sausage with Heinz chili sauce.   Seems scant but I can't remember anything else.   Maybe bread.    Tad time was eagerly contemplated, maybe a slice of salami.    Dinner was either steak barbequed on the river, salad.  Or on a splurge day, dinner in the village restaurant, martinis, steak, baked potato, salad.    Early bedtime in camp and tomorrow the same.

I used to chide them that if the four of us escapees from the business world only took on weekend jobs we'd be way ahead of the cost of equipment for this folly.   But then I didn't have their gold fever.
