@Ann_T – thank you!  That ham is gorgeous.  I wouldn’t even know how to begin to look for a double smoked ham.  I love ham in all its forms but roasted is my favorite.

Woke up starving this morning – hence quiches and rye toast:

Long past lunchtime and I haven’t gotten hungry again yet.

Loose, buttery scrambed egg with "Vienna Flavor Sausage".

I've no idea what is Viennese about the sausages but that's how they are marketed.

The sausages I have are not tinned! Nor do they match that description in several other ways.

I understand that - I was addressing the name

A friend of mine once succinctly described the tinned ones as "cat food shaped like a dog turd," and he's not entirely wrong.

I used to like them as a kid, for whatever reason. I bought a can in my early 40s out of morbid curiosity mingled with nostalgia, but one mouthful was enough.

cut-up Vienna sausages are fine things in which to hide the dog's medicines. Lots cheaper than pill pockets.

My dog proved to have a remarkable gift for coaxing the pill from any sort of wrapper, and spitting it out on the floor.

I grind them up for her now, which eliminates the problem at its source. Sometimes I mush a bit of sardine into the pill, sometimes it's a splash of plain yogurt. She likes them both, so I just switch 'em up occasionally to keep her from getting bored.

I somehow missed posting a couple of breakfasts from the past week:

On Friday I went to pick up bagels for the freezer and treated myself to breakfast:

BEC on an ET.  Excellent.

This morning – Mr. Kim’s:

IMG_4980.jpg.be6b2604bfdea371f73db25d2ae37c03.jpg

Benton’s bacon, IP egg, and rye toast.

Thinking of Suzilightning, I made Johnnybird’s Toast Dope:

And used it to make Dope Toast:

IMG_4983.jpg.51f403eaf79500e4b1b807ab203744a2.jpg

Served with a damn green egg.  My egg was from the same batch as Mr. Kim’s.  His was hardly green at all and mine was almost half green!!!

Flour tortilla,  egg roll ups this morning.   Fried egg on warmed flour tortilla with shredded lettuce and diced tomatoes and cheese.  Rolled and toasted on the comal.

"Caviar Balls in Fish Broth"

The 'balls' are actually dumpling wrappers made from glutinous rice.  Inside is a mixture of surimi and Peruvian flying fish roe.

I found them a bit bland and glutinous rice isn't really my thing, so an experiment unlikely to be repeated.
