Likewise in Arkansas, Tennessee and much of the rest of the South. I'm fortunate to live 30 miles from the Missouri line, so I can make a border run on a Sunday, holiday or election day, should I find myself out of something critical.

Iowa has come a long ways.  When we moved here there were no Sunday sales plus the State ran all the booze stores.  There was a list with prices posted on the wall and you had to fill out an order blank.  A clerk went into the back the got you selection.  The first time I went, there was a guy that owed the local furniture store.  He really thought he was a big frog in a little pond.  His order had several bottles of champagne on it.  He made sure we all knew it was Christmas gifts for "All the little people who work for me".  Guess where I never shopped!

after a very long Cook's tour of Dallas thanks to the Uber drivers wonky gps we arrived at the airport - a very long way from the ticket counter but very close to the gate we will leave from!

the station we went to was in LosAltos

 

it gave away an assortment of items for a ' fill up '

 

a towel , long gone ,

 

a plastic salad bowl   ( several )

 

those bowls were used for Dry Cat Food for eons.

 

MC uses one of two left to this day.

 

now that's  value !

I thought everyone knew that.  On the other hand ExxonMobil, or whatever it was back then, sued my guardian's brother over the Esso oval trademark.  He won.

MC enjoys them now for his dry food

 

he is indifferent to the bowl  

 

and has no interest in that  many wonderful Cats 

 

from the past

 

enjoyed their dry food

 

in this same bowl

 

that did well w the bowl

 

deeply sorry to move this thread in a different doirection

 

MC gets no Chocolate
