Heading back from Havre de Grace, MD, so I had to stop for crabcakes at Conrad's Crabs and Seafood Market. The fresh seafood looked amazing, wish I had brought a cooler.

Crabcakes with mustardy tartar sauce. Good, but maybe I should have splurged for the jumbo over backfin.

Crab dip - very rich, this would have been better for sharing

Marcella's Penne col Sugo di Funghi Coltivati.

Okay, it's Penne with Mushroom Sauce, a dish I've been cooking ever since I bought the book it's in - which looks like 1987. The book is not in great shape; the recipes still are.

Chicken, mushrooms,  and a cheesy riced cauliflower with broccoli (attempt at more veggies for partner who loved it). Not pictured- the sweet potatoes that weren't done when I ate but were when partner did)

Hmm what to make for dinner... how about pasta.  Final jar of Tomatoes my wife grew last summer.

So sauce is San Marzano Tomatoes, Garlic, Onions, Basil, spices.  Plenty of fake parm from Wisconsin on top.

Bread is sourdough I let rise to be very fluffy and then my wife made into garlic bread and froze it.

We used to buy Texas Toast from the grocery store... but this is just as good and we made it!

Wine is a 2016 HDV Ysabel Pinot Noir

Kohlrabi and Soy Sauce-Seared Tofu Salad from “Ever-Green Vietnamese” by Andrea Nguyen - very nice mix of flavors and textures. The salad had coarsely shredded kohlrabi and carrots, rehydrated black fungus mushrooms, pan-seared tofu (which was quickly marinated in soy sauce), coarsely ground, toasted sesame seeds, cilantro and mint with a vinaigrette made with fish sauce, lime juice, agave syrup, serrano chili and garlic

It was fast food for me last night. Air-fried chicken breast strips and sauteed ginger garlic vegetables from a kit. Quick and easy and pretty tasty.

No photo description available.

After supper, my neighbor popped over with one of her daughter's pastry boxes. So, peach croissant for dessert. Yum!!

May be an image of turnover, tart and text

Sabatasso gf pizza (cheese). Added ham, mushrooms, olives, tomato and onion to my side.  Partners without tomato or mushroom.

20250603_173523.thumb.jpg.3a5d37534b5fc945888038d0562fd089.jpg

@Shel_B for your sister- the sabatasso is my favorite gf pizza. (3 pack at Costco is about $16 and it's a seasonal item).

Kirkland has a nice one full of peppers, pepperoni etc that while the cauliflower crust is good, has too many peppers for me but partner really likes it.

Look what you made me do (though not quite as pretty as that one above):

Jumbo lump, however...

And we each ate one of these as well:

@YvetteMT Thanks so much for the heads up.  I've a Costco run coming up and I'll take a look at the item. I don't know if my sister is a Costcoista.

Your daughter's pastry box is really something.   I think I would start with that peach croissant.

Roasted a small rack of pork. Just two bones.

I’ve had no reliable WiFi for a month but hopefully now can post some of the food I’ve been eating in Europe.

We had a meal in Harry’s Bar Venice which is on the Grand Canal just around the corner from St Marks Square ( a sentence I don’t use everyday!!  Smile ). Harry’s Bar is an iconic restaurant in Venice and has been going for nearly a century with its prime being in the 1930’s, 40’s, and 50’s with the likes of Ernest Hemingway, Peggy Guggenheim, Katherine Hepburn, Truman Capote to name drop a few, eating there.

It seems still as exciting and busily high end as it used to be, with superb service.

Below…We had drinks to start followed by steak tartare and prawn and calamari tartare

IMG_4453.jpeg.6fca7c234db59dd87c01e5e2416ee8b5.jpeg

below… I had this dish which is quite famous in Venice and to this restaurant in particular… Creamed dried cod with polenta. I liked it very much, salty and creamy… I never liked polenta much but after this one, I now can say I like it

Below… my son had this ravioli dish

Below…

one of the desserts,

Below… the actual kitchen is so tiny that the meals are presented onto customers plates in the restaurant by the waiters.

IMG_4457.jpeg.ee978671bfd9b65aa77b7d7543740f54.jpeg

Below, very blurred photo but you can just see that there is a little white dog in a ladies handbag in the restaurant.

I will post some Breakfast photos under the Breakfast heading

The photos aren’t very good at showing off the food because I didn’t like to make a fuss of taking food photos and just quickly snapped where I could.

BLT made by Mrs Dr Teeth.   Benton’s bacon and sourdough bread from a rather good French bakery near us.   Tomato was only ok.   Still a bit early in the season.

the direct sibling of the Linguini w Campari , is

IMG_6869.thumb.jpeg.6120b8e7bcce4bff8f85ee83b4ec26b5.jpeg

Linguini w Pork Ragu ' iPot'   how that is made is in the iPot thread.

Linguini , Pork ragu , some butter and EVOO , and one egg , a la Carbonara   TJ's Parmesian-ish , window green on ions.

I make sure to use enough hot pasta water so the mix-up looks like this :

IMG_6884.thumb.jpeg.af60eaee6e934f993ad8fef29b20be3c.jpeg

note there is a little sauce , if you will , around the edges.

fantastic stuff.   and as you can see , in the manner of Italy , it's about the Linguini .

Looks like it's been a good week for pasta!  Tonight's dinner was homemade cheese ravioli with Italian oyster mushrooms topped with parmesan reggiano.

Thank you fellow eGulleteers for the welcome back!
I've been trying to cook every other day. Don't want to overdo it but OH! Feels so good to be back in the kitchen!
Neighbors have been fantastic: Derek's smoked baby back ribs, corn bread, and Caesar salad. He's a land surveyors and often gets home late. I've often left meals on his porch, so I really appreciate his reciprocity!DereksSmokedribs.jpg.b30364a57d7fde59268b6f734dbedbc9.jpg

Another friend brought dessert! Red Velvet cake - so good!

                                                                                       RedVelvetcake.thumb.jpg.d8ff48ce470c6de787ec1c65ad111db5.jpg

One of our sons live in St. John's, Newfou
ndland. He flew home to be with Dad while I was in the hospital. He works as IT and can work from anywhere. Luckily, his head office is in Winnipeg, where the hospital is. He loves lamb but his family doesn't. So we collaborated on a lamb dinner before he headed back home.

My brother was in the city and brought me dim sum home for supper! I SO enjoyed the chicken feet! The small ribs were simmered in black bean sauce, so I sauteed some Roma beans together with the ribs to warm them up.

                                                                                        Dimsum.jpg.a3b63c54387d2dd0c4034b263a5780f6.jpg

Tonight, I combined some beef meat balls (pulled out of freezer meant for a meal 2 days ago!) with tofu and egg plant for MaPo tofu. Lots of rice was consumed.

                                                                                        MapoTofu.jpg.5b87ed7c77ba078be998d71b501becd0.jpg

A local abattoir and meat store had smoked chicken advertised. 1/2 chickens for $3.99. Picked up one for my brother, one for our eldest son, and one for us. Supper will be easy!
