Breakfast 2024

I am still on my self-imposed century egg and lean pork congee breakfast diet. Later today it's going to be the same, but with champagne to celebrate getting through 2023. It hasn't been the best year I've had.

New Year's Day breakfast/brunch: smoked salmon, scrambled eggs, croissant, pickled red onions, gazpacho and cherries and oranges.

I decided to forego the traditional Caesar this year and just had coffee.

Egg, chorizo, cheddar and arugula on mushroom focaccia with a tomato and a tangerine.

I didn't think the chorizo had enough heat so I added a whole red Thai chili to the egg. Tasted great but did make my nose run 🌶️

16 hours ago, Captain said:

Dippy dippy eggs with soldiers.

I think this is probably Moe's favourite way to have eggs.

Two of his breakfasts.

Yesterday he wanted the last of the potato leek soup with toast

and today I made him pancakes with blueberries simmered in maple syrup.

Egg, chorizo, aged cheddar, tomato and lettuces with a touch of sriracha on a toasted WW bagel.

Enjoyed with a mix of navel and blood oranges, V8 and coffee.

We're in for some 'interesting' weather today so reading and garden planning on the agenda.

Egg scrambled with chorizo, shrimp, green onion and green Thai chilis with aged cheddar and mixed lettuces on a toasted WW bagel.

The trick with a sandwich like this is not to let any component dominate. The sandwich was delicious albeit messy to eat.

Navel and blood oranges and V8 and coffee on the side.

First thing I've cooked this year, actually made a couple of days ago but it's the breakfast that keeps on giving 🤣.

InstantPot apple cinnamon steel-cut oats with a sprinkle of sweet-spicy pecans.

I used this recipe, that starts with toasting the oats in a bit of butter before adding the liquid.  I omitted the brown sugar but subbed a cup of TJ's spicy cider for some of the water.

I tend to more savory breakfasts but this was pleasantly warming.

New here and love a good breakfast. I quite often make these, what I call an Asian omelette.
