Anova Precision Oven: Features, Accessories, Troubleshooting, and "Should I Buy One?"

I' m pretty much the same.  I love my CSO, and the half-sheet-pan deal is not a big thing to me, but if and when it goes, I'd go* to an Anova Precision as a next appliance, if it were available. That said, I'm contemplating ordering a CSO backup while I can.

*That is, if it's under $400. Otherwise, I'm sticking with the CSO or reluctantly giving up steam and going to a Breville Smart Oven.

CSO is currently $409.15 on amazon.

the recapturing and recycling of the water vapour that's mentioned sounds novel..

But this also makes me think it's going to be North of 500quid or bucks.

I'd have to wait until Black Friday 2021 to justify such an expensive kettle.

@adey73

thank you for the tip.

I say two vids :

Chicken and Bread

that's fine

since the original Anova Crew

did very well on their efforts

and merged w a a very lage For Profit

syndicate

I don't mind  they deserve it

Bora Bara   etc

but now

its a bean counter situation

this that and more for the beancounter

I dint mind they count the Beans

but more often than not

the BC  miss the long term goals :

An Anova  Combi Oven In Every Kitchen

and Anova will leave the Chicken

up to you.

Id shudder

that these days

THe Bean Conters

love their Optoins

so they might make

the new Anova Oven

by subscription Only\

Look Out For that

cheers

Don't worry.  I doubt the oven will be for sale before then.  And I grant you anova has the vapor part down pat.

Guys, you have fairly unrealistic expectations of how much a consumer countertop Combi oven is going to cost.  The commercial versions, like Rational, cost $10,000+!  This ain't gonna be in the range of other countertop ovens.

Yes, like many of you I have a Cuisinart steam oven, but its limitations are obvious.  It is a much cruder device, and to boot it has quite small capacity.

I know the word "game-changing" is overused, but it is true, cooking with precision temperature control AND humidity control is game-changing.  And it will come with a premium, I'm simply happy that it will be uner $1,000.

@rotuts -- I think my CSO is a great product, but I also find myself running into its limitations (mostly due to size) pretty often. It's clear from the featureset that one could do a heck of a lot more with the Anova.

Just being able to bake a big loaf of bread that doesn't get burned by the top element would be a huge improvement for me.

Anova's instagram feed is sporting 2 new posts of bread baked in the oven.... though they aren't answering any of the moot questions about price and release date.

interestingly (well to me), Scott Heimendinger who's been involved with oven, has left Modernist Cuisine to start a venture building something new..... anyone any idea what? .... Also has Dave Arnold mentioned his long touted next product?

......maybe this oven isn't the only toy coming soon-ish

""   soon-ish ""

hard to measure that.  but my CSO is filling in nicely in the meantime

""  a huge improvement ""

I would love a huge improvement .  well made , and attractively priced

at scale  , for that improvement.

ditto above

I noticed anova has more information up since last I looked:

https://anovaculinary.com/anova-precision-oven/

No price and availability, of course.  No information on weight either.  But interior is 16.9x10x12.4 inches.  Temperature Range:  86-480F (30-250C) Accuracy: +/- 1.8F (1.0C).  Temperature Range in Sous Vide Mode 75-212F (25-100C) Accuracy: +/- 0.5F (0.3C).

how does the stated 5L reservoir and 24hr cook, compare with the  BLUMLEIN Steam Convection Oven, that you're all having fun with elsewhere?

I wonder about ' required ' connectivity

I may be wrong , but didn't Anova tie their current crop of circulators to

WiFi or some such thing ?

Not required, just available. It's the Joule that has no buttons.

Oven is available for preorder today at $599, ships September 28th:

I think it's a reasonable price but high enough that I'll wait to see reviews. (Plus Anova products tend to go on sale, eventually.)

@dtremit

how do the inner dimensions compare to the Blumlein ?

i count find the B's inner dimensions

thanks

P.S.:   I was under the impression the current crop of Anova circulators required WiFi

I was hoping the SteamOven did not.
