I'd experiment with just plain balsamic vinegar (or possibly PX sherry vinegar). You'll be turning it into strawberry vinegar; no need to have someone else flavor it for you. My inclination would also be to go very easy on the vinegar if you're recipe has lots of strawberries ... like over 30% by weight. Strawberries are already pretty acidic. Recipes that I see with other acids added (lemon juice, etc.) usually have a lower level of the fruit. The added acid is compensating.

Completely agree I really can't understand why any business would sell BH, much less advertise selling it. Worth mentioning that Dietz and Watson, a big Philly cold cuts manufacturer with a national presence, has always offered tours to anyone who asked. Well-known here that they are squeaky clean. The Inquirer wrote them up a while ago as exemplary. https://www.dietzandwatson.com/factory-tour

Darto is offering 20% off of everything, starting today. The exact announcement begins: 20% discount on all our products, before possible changes. Starting today, August 12, at 12:00 PM (GMT-3), Argentina time. The details: What are these changes about? Due to the context that we are currently going through regarding global trade, we could have to make some changes in the short term. We are currently working to continue offering the best possible price and shipping service. In consequence, we are offering a 20% discount on the regular prices of all our catalogue, including our 2025 Red Dot Award-winning Juicer. Is everything first quality? This sale includes both first-quality and factory seconds. Most of them will be first quality (around 95%). Factory seconds may have minor cosmetic scratches but are 100% functional. What if I get a factory second product and I do not like it? Are these used or returned items? We do not offer refunds or returns. All items sold are brand new, including factory seconds. This is my first time buying. I have seen comments about an oil coating on the product and that it feels sticky. Our products are washed and then coated with linseed oil to prevent rust during storage. This oil is safe for consumption but may turn brown over time. We recommend removing the oil with hot water and detergent before cooking or applying additional seasoning. Is the Keychain available to add to my order? Our beloved Keychain is still out of stock and will not be available in this sale. We hope to have it back soon. When will I receive my order if I buy it in this sale? Do I have to wait for a couple of months like the pre-sales from previous years? Shipments are scheduled for delivery starting August 18th. We currently have the items already manufactured, it will only take a couple of days to prepare the packages and print the shipping labels to start with the deliveries. Will you notify me before my package is sent? Yes, we will send you a notification email with your DHL Express tracking number once your order is ready to leave our store. How long will the sale last? This sale ends when the stock of 200 units per model is sold out. Where do I buy the products? Only through our international website: https://www.dartointernational.com/ How many products can I buy? You can order as many products as you want. How much does shipping cost, and what about import fees? Shipping has a flat rate of USD 20 for orders of 1 item and USD 15 for 2 items or more, regardless of the model or destination. This flat rate includes import taxes for countries where they apply them, so you won't incur any additional fees (DHL charges them directly to us). Do you ship to remote areas or countries that are far away from Argentina? Yes. We have already shipped to 95 countries and territories, including remote locations. We always aim to go even further! We ship only through DHL Express, with delivery times between 5-7 business days once the package is handed over to them. Here are the 95 countries and territories we have currently shipped to: United States - Canada - England - Ireland - Norway - Sweden - Denmark Netherlands - Germany - Italy - France - Spain - Slovenia - Dubai - South Korea - Japan - Vietnam - Hong Kong - Philippines - Singapore - Australia New Zealand - Argentina - Uruguay - Brazil - Mexico - Paraguay - Lithuania Ecuador - Belgium - Austria - Romania - Israel - Greece - Taiwan - Malaysia Costa Rica - Finland - India - Thailand - Aruba - Russia - Saudi Arabia Switzerland - Morocco - Belarus - Jamaica - Czech Republic - Estonia Poland - Hungary - Chile - Puerto Rico - Scotland - Montenegro - Colombia Luxembourg - Turkey - Panama - Malta - China - Cyprus - Iceland - Bulgaria South Africa - Greenland - Croatia - Serbia - Madagascar - Peru - Slovakia Brunei - Guatemala - Indonesia - Guam - US Virgin Islands - Portugal Bolivia - Ghana - Latvia - Albania - Georgia - Kazakhstan - Kosovo Venezuela - Bahrain - Ukraine - Bermuda - Lebanon - Bosnia and Herzegovina - Cambodia - Angola - Bahamas - Kuwait - Qatar Which countries are included in this sale? @blue_dolphin Good question. I'll start with the name. They are 匙 (chí) or 勺 (sháo), literally just 'spoons'. If you really must specify (not usually necessary) you can add 汤 (tāng), meaning 'soup' to get 汤匙 or 汤勺. In most restaurants, you will be given both chopsticks and a spoon whether you are having soup or not. They are used in pairs to eat many things. For example, if a particular food item is slippery and difficult to pick up with the chopsticks alone, then it is polite to use the chopsticks to push the item into the spoon then carry that to your bowl or mouth. Stabbing food with the point of a chopstick is a big faux pas. No one will blink if you use it to eat your soup, but most people don't. I don't recall ever seeing a western style soup spoon in China.

As both @rotuts and I said previously. If I see a Boar's Head product, I won't buy anything. Fortunately, the few places I shop for what might be considered deli stuff, charcuterie, etc., do not sell Boar's Head anything.

Charlie had dental work yesterday and the dentist put him on a soft food diet for the next couple of weeks. I decided to make Italian Wedding Soup for dinner. It isn't something you might think of making in the middle of August but the meat balls are small and soft, plus It's nutritional and tasty.

Yeah … as @Ddanno said: terrestrial TV (and/or radio) reception. Unlikely to be useful anymore, but who knows ..!?

Are short-handled, often flat-bottomed spoons of this general type never used for soup in China? If it’s not a soup spoon, does it have a different name? I’ve been served soup in both Chinese and Japanese restaurants in the US with chopsticks only or with both chopsticks and one of these spoons. I’m pretty sure I saw them in restaurants in China as well but it’s been a while and I don’t remember exactly. Some of my Chinese colleagues often used this style of spoon, usually metal instead of porcelain, along with chopsticks for soups they'd brought for lunch.

Soup spoons are rounder and deeper, so both hold more soup and are better for sipping from (imo)

What is the difference between a soup spoon and a tablespoon? What's a tablespoon used for, or intended to be used for?
-
I'm sure I could say the same for many of us here. So me also... but I'm going to stop counting!

These look absolutely beautiful! Maybe you should open your own Costa Rican bakery! 😂
-
It's one of mine too, I've often picked four starters I want to eat before getting down to the main courses on a menu

Me thirteen.

Much more annoyed by the lack of fish table knives... I still see spoons around, both clasic european (for me) and asian looking ones.
-
My favorite sort of dining out - excellent choices, too!
-
I'm still on a boycott of Costa Rican bread so I made another batch of Birotes Salados. Although it is intended to be used as small sandwich rolls, I have found out that it makes a great baguette. I plan to use the rolls for barbecue chicken sandwiches for dinner.

I used to buy Boar's Head hot dogs, but after reading about their health and safety issues, I stopped buying them and any other of the company's products. I won't support such an operation. There are many other options available. Why would anyone be confused about this issue?

For SIL's last meal here we went out to Wye Oak Tavern, a Voltaggio restaurant in a de-consecrated abbey. Instead of getting mains we dined on appetizers and sides. Started with coddies - salted cod brandade, cauliflower tartar sauce, cauliflower giardiniera (not pictured) Rest of the meal, from top left: House salad - iceberg lettuce, carrot vinaigrette, lime yogurt, chickpea crunch Shells & cheese - toasted panko, aged cheddar, chives Spiced sweet potatoes - pomegranate molasses, lime yogurt Broccoli rabe - broccoli chimichurri, crushed red pepper, crispy garlic Crab cake - shishito emulsion, blue corn tortilla, buttermilk lime crema Smoked beet pastrami - gruyere cheese funnel cake, thousand island dressing Macaroni - dry aged beef bolognese, fontina fondue My favorites were the sweet potato and broccoli rabe. After a little walking around we stopped for a flight of ice cream - roasted strawberry, caramel crunch, butter pecan, and honey graham.

Ugh. After all of the well-reported issues from last year, Boar's Head is about to reopen its problematic plant. Issues there, and elsewhere within the company's operations, remain, though. As said upthread, "Why would anyone buy from Boar's Head ever again?" https://arstechnica.com/health/2025/08/boars-head-to-reopen-plant-as-mold-and-funky-meat-problems-pop-up-elsewhere/

I didn't buy it. The A4Box was given to me with the extra inserts. (Thank you Kerry)

They're just telly aerials, very common sight in the 80s and 90s. There's still plenty around now but they're largely obsolete because of satellite/cable and streaming services, and it's a hassle to get on the roof and take it down.
