My Dinner With Andre has always been a favorite, as has Diner (He ate the whole left side of the menu). White Palace has some memorable moments as well.

Menus-Plaisirs.Les.Troisgros.2023

wonderful look at a 3 star French restaurant.

no yelling in the kitchen , although the chef did raise his voice a bit

as there were too many kidneys in a pan , thus did not brown properly.

fascinating how the individual plates are made up for service .

I thought two prices were mentions :  350 a d 550 euros mentioned .

the second for a wine pairing menu.

but they might have been prices for their hotel.

i looked for them again , but they vanished.

I watched 'Ramen Teh' or 'Ramen Shop' over the weekend. A Singaporean Japanese French film shot in Singapore.

It was an order of magnitude too schmalzy for me however the food and food culture shown kept me going to the end.

I saw it the other night and it’s a delightful, sensual movie with long, fascinating cooking sequences (including the magnificent opening), and gorgeous photography. Any food lover will enjoy it, for sure!

I finally saw it last night, via DVD. It's wonderful.

Imagine all the food you have eaten in your life and consider that you are simply some of that food, rearranged.  -Max Tegmark, physicist

Gene Weingarten, writing in the Washington Post about online news stories and the accompanying readers' comments: "I basically like 'comments,' though they can seem a little jarring: spit-flecked rants that are appended to a product that at least tries for a measure of objectivity and dignity. It's as though when you order a sirloin steak, it comes with a side of maggots."

Not a movie but definitely food-orientated is Midnight Diner on Netflix. I really love it. I was reading a lot of rather violent manga when I first came across it, and I found it a very soothing contrast. Short stories set in a little after-hours diner. Gentle.

I just discovered this show. The original series plus the newer "Tokyo Stories" are still on Netflix. Ms. Alex and I watched the first three episodes of Season 1 tonight. It's indeed gentle, charming, and touching.

I missed this earlier as well.  It only came to my attention because Nancy Silverton called it out in that NYT article I mentioned above. It is charming indeed!

The James Beard award-winning  “Marcella” documentary about Marcella Hazan will air on PBS here in the US on July 11, 2025 as part of the "American Masters" series and will be available to stream on PBS after that.  The DVD(eG-friendly Amazon.com link) is available on Amazon for $9.99 and it’s widely available to rent or buy from streaming services.
I bought the DVD and am hoping to arrange a watch party with a group of friends featuring a lunch, appetizers or dinner from Marcella's recipes.
Has anyone else seen it yet?
