oh man! how to choose?

just for kicks: Jesus, Mohammed, Buddha and Albert Einstein.

I'd like the first 3 to sort out this religion mess thing.

Do not expect INTJs to actually care about how you view them. They already know that they are arrogant bastards with a morbid sense of humor. Telling them the obvious accomplishes nothing.

Two sets:

Hermann Hesse, Johann Sebastian Bach, George Orwell, and Zero Mostel to balance it out!

From "The Wizard Of Oz" crew: Ray Bolger, Jack Haley, Burt Lahr, and Margaret Hamilton (If I could pick 5, I'd choose Frank Morgan also).

Richard Feynman, Oliver Reed, CB Fry (See if he really was a bit Nazi...) and Edouard de Pomiane.

Keith Floyd can do the cooking and join in for the drinking afterwards

I love animals.

They are delicious.

Practice. Do it over. Get it right.

Mostly, I want people to be as happy eating my food as I am cooking it.

BrennaMorgan, thanks for reviving a fun thread.

Off the top of my head: Joseph Haydn (a great wit), Fred Rodgers (such a nice man), Leonardo da Vinci (possibly the most well-roundedly brilliant person of all time), and Alma Mahler (what stories she could tell!). And for good measure, Groucho Marx to tell jokes, and Rabbi Hillel to talk about his philosophy, Judaism, and what he thinks of the new religions that have sprung up in the 2,000+ years since his death.

Richard Feynman,

Carlovski,

You beat me to it.

1) Feynman - a particular hero of my dad (a physicist) and a real character

2) Richard Francis Burton - explorer, first translator of 1001 Nights out of Arabic and regarded by many at the time as the Victorian Era's greatest pornographer

3) Dorothy Parker - all around wit

4) Miles Davis - just a fascinating cat

If someone writes a book about restaurants and nobody reads it, will it produce a 10 page thread?

1) My mother's mother - Never knew her, but I miss her.

2&3) Mozart & Puccini - I'm a lyric soprano and their music is pure joy to sing.

4) Callas - Her music is pure joy and agony, simultaneously, to hear.

2, 3 and 4 also make for good dinner music.

Dead: Chet Atkins, Jim Kilgo, Winston Churchill, and Douglas Adams. Weird match up, I know, and probably a lousy mix for dinner conversation, but these are all folks I wish I had known. In Jim Kilgo's case, I wish I had known him better. He was my writing teacher at UGA. I took several classes from him, worked on a one-on-one writing project with him and spent some time at his house, but never knew him as well as I would have liked. He had a tremendous influence on me, though. He was an amazing writer.

Alive: Mark Knopfler, Nicholas Christopher (author of Veronica,

A Trip to the Stars, and Franklin Flyer), Alton Brown, and a tie between Neil Gaiman and Lemony Snicket.

Drinks with Tony Bourdain would be cool, too.

Sonny Blount (Sun Ra) (I did in fact take most of the Arkestra to Dreamland in Tuscaloosa during a three day stand at the legendary Chukker. We rode in style in my 1969 Dodge Motorhome, drinking moonshine and laughing out asses off. No Sun Ra though, he was too ill at that point)

I like my husband's list: Benjamin Franklin, John Lennon, Vincent Van Gogh (assuming a translator were present)...but then he can't decide between Charlie Chaplin and Elizabeth I.

My list would also include Benjamin Franklin and John Lennon, as well, but I'd have to omit Van Gogh in favor of Joe Bob Briggs (John Bloom is actually one of the best educated, thoughtful, and well-read men I've ever known). And I'll second the inclusion of Alma Mahler.

Now, who's going to cook your meal?

Hmmm, lets see....

James Earl Jones (Legend)

Rudy Bosch (old crusty survivor guy)

Roksoburo Michiba (Iron Chef)

Ian Wright (Lonley Planet/Globetrekker host)

I think that is a well rounded group!

Moo, Cluck, Oink.....they all taste good!

My dark side is showing in this one.

There's a couple of people from history and a couple still living, that I'd pick --- and I'd poison the food.

For dinnertime stimulation? Too many to choose from. I'd have to have a banquet.

I agree with Vervain. I want to talk and eat food, drink wine and I want people who'd have something in common to talk about. An all day affaire with everybody in their prime. And have it be at Craig's or Richard's place.
