Bay scallops, shrimp and yard-long beans with chiles, fermented black beans, and basil. Separately seared and removed long beans, shrimp, and scallops. Stir-fried garlic, ginger, fermented black beans, bird chiles, and Asian basil leaves. Added scallops, shrimp, long beans, oyster sauce, and cornstarch slurry, and stirred until thickened. Finished with more Asian basil. Good stuff.

Jasmine rice and cucumbers to go with.

Bonus for the tots!  Did you fry them? They look great. I bake my tots, and they don't look as luxurous as yours.

What can you tell me about the GF bread? Local to your area? Do they have varieties and styles to choose from? What type do you prefer? Online availability?

Franz is from the PNW. You can purchase online, I've heard rumor that some gf products are now available nationwide at Walmart.

For"regular" bread,I prefer the mountain white. (They have a seed version as well that I find too "grainy/seedy").

They have deli style as well(larger pieces, longer vs the traditional loaf shape) and the rye flavored is by far my favorite.  (20 years since I've had real rye bread and it's one of few things i miss still)

As with all gf bread, it benefits from even a light toasting. All of the buns as well-a quick microwave. It helps them not fall to pieces and gets rid of the dry mouthfeel.

Trader Joe's has the best gf English muffins (and muffins) and Aldi has the best gf bagels.

I've tried all their gf offerings except the raisin.

(And yes, tots shallow fried in avocado oil)

Thanks for the bead info. My sister is exploring GF bread options and I've forwarded your comments to her.  She found some here when she visied from NYC last month, but there was some sort of problem with shipping or selection so she continues to look for other options.

Time got away from me and this was plated very quickly. Braised Filipino adobo with rice, steamed carrots, and a mix of frozen corn and edamame that needed to be used up. I used pork shoulder for the adobo.

Even though younger son has moved away, two of his friends came over for dinner. One is from Pakistan and both enjoy flavorful foods, so it is always fun to cook for them.

Grilled five-spice chicken, slashed and marinated with ginger, garlic, soy sauce, turmeric, Chinese five-spice powder, salt, sugar, oil, and toasted/ground star anise. Soy-lime dipping sauce with bird chiles and garlic pulverized with sugar in the mortar.

Mrs. C made sweet potatoes in the air fryer with a tamarind and molasses glaze. Cucumber salad and turmeric rice to go with. Sadly, I only snapped a phone pic of the chicken.

Lime-Curry Chicken Thighs with Baked Cauliflower and Egg-Caper Vinaigrette and Mashed Potatoes with Pesto - chicken thighs were sous-vide at 148F for 5 hours and after a quick sear finished with a compound butter made from butter, lime juice and zest, honey, Thai red curry, soy sauce and apple cider vinegar.
The cauliflower was simply baked whole with convection and served with a vinaigrette made with eggs, red onions, capers, chives, diced tomatoes, hints of curry powder, sugar, avocado oil and white balsamic vinegar.
The mashed potatoes had basil pesto, toasted pine nuts and potato cooking water incorporated

Croque Madame made with some of the rolls that I had sitting around because Garlic Bread In The Park was postponed this weekend. Side of tater tots with a ketchup/chamoy mix for dipping sauce.

Spaghetti with cannellini beans and greens.   My favorite pasta sauce (that I make) usually done with escarole but repurposed during CSA season to use up a bag of “spicy mix” that got a bit too old to be used for salad.   Mostly mizuna and some odd dandelion greens

Rummo gf pasta with shrimp, peas, and spinach.

How do youlike the gf Rummo. My sister likes pasta but hasn't found a gf that she likes. I've used and found Rummo's regular pasta to be fine, but didn't know they had a gf version. Maybe I'll mention it to sis ... what are your thoughts about it?
