  2. It sounds pretty amazing. I might have to try it, too!
  3. Pizza Night by Alexandra Stafford: White Pizza with Arugula, Pistachios, and Honey p 204 made with the Neopolitanish dough p 22 served with Cherry Tomato and Cherry Salad with Feta and Jalapeños p 81 I liked this pizza a lot. It’s got a very thin layer (2T) of whipped heavy cream, grated Parm and Camembert. After it comes out of the oven, it gets drizzled with honey (I used Mike's Hot Honey), sprinkled with chopped pistachios and a pile of arugula dressed with olive oil and salt. The salad was interesting. I really liked the cherry, jalapeño and lime juice combo. The feta was fine but the cherry tomatoes, which are nice on their own, are overpowered by the other ingredients and taste bland in comparison. The cilantro was OK but I’d prefer mint here.

  5. Thanks for that recipe link! The Mojo Marinated Pork (integral to it, but separate recipe) looks like something I'll have to try.
  6. Chef (2014) is pretty funny. You can even make that great cubano sandwich if you’re up to it. Recipe here.

    Dinner 2025

@gulfporter if you are there and see a bin of that corn go in-and-out to get what you need.
  8. We've been raising Freedom Ranger chickens for a number of years now. I learned about Sasso chickens reading this thread, and when I went to place my chick order this spring, saw that they were available. They're beautiful birds and are growing very nicely. These are about 8 weeks old, and we'll let them go another 4 weeks, aiming for a dressed bird at 3-5 lbs. There are a few Araucanas in the mix that we hatched around the same time the Sasso chicks arrived. We'll add those to our laying flock when they get a little larger.
  9. Not a movie but a series - I reall enjoyed the 1st, 2nd and 4th seasons of The Bear- season 3 was a bit weird to me - mostly flashbacks but overall I enjoyed the series. Another that I have watched more times than I will admit is Chocolat - Juliette Binoch and Johnny Depp.

    Dinner 2025

It's a 4th of July special, but good the whole week. I went by this morning at 9am and the bin was empty! Not surprised. They had a generous limit of 8 ears per customer, per day. Most of my errands take me past the store so I'll check again.
  11. Have you ever seen "Julie & Julia"? I don't remember it as being deliberately comical (although it's listed as a Romance and Comedy) but I thought it was quite entertaining. (We discussed the movie here when it came out.) By the way, I just spent some time finding and then re-reading our topic about The Julie/Julia Project when it was underway, and then in the aftermath. Most of the links are broken -- for example, Julie's original blog is gone -- but there's still some interesting discussion. It's hard to remember that food blogging was a new thing back then, isn't it? But she did that project over 20 years ago. And there are a couple of still-living links, one to a fine article by @russ parsons, about the movie and even more about Julia Child. This isn't at all what you're asking about, but I'm putting it in because it's well worth reading. https://www.latimes.com/food/la-fo-calcook12-2009aug12-story.html Okay, back to the comedic food/cooking oriented movies or shows...does someone else have recommendations? (What about Pixar's "Ratatouille"?)
  12. Misen nonstick frying pans are 40% off; the rest of the site is 20% off. I use the 12" and like it a lot, especially the even heat distribution. https://misen.com/products/nonstick-pan
  13. @JoNorvelleWalker I agree w @donk79's assessment as an order of magnitude . this would be the timings on an outdoor smoker , not unlike the one @ WHPS the Yoder. many Q'ists wrap the Butt at some point , either covering an aluminum pan ( to keep the Jus ) or carefully wrap the Butt , to keep the Jus in the wrap. the issue w the GE-IDS is you would have to rotate the Butt several times as the temp differential , top back to bottom front is significant. you could do 1/2 of the time in the GE-IDS , and the other 1/2 in the Anova. pull from the Anova @ 190 F to 195 F. I don't have a feel for any possible difference smoking first vs smoking after 1/2 in the Anova .
  14. Any suggestions for comedic food/cooking oriented movies or shows that are available for streaming on Netflix, Amazon, YouTube and other platforms? I'm going to be stuck at home for a few days, recovering from a minor inconvenience, and it might be nice to watch one or two such flicks.
  15. I would look to @rotuts for solid information. He is much more methodical than I am (I lack a notebook and intention to start one!) and knows your smoker better than I do. That said, if I am smoking a pork butt, I usually cut on in half to smoke 5-6 lbs. I smoke at 225-250f, and smoke until 195-200f. I give it 8 hours, but it sometimes takes less ans sometimes more.
  16. the Unexpected Cheddar is a fine benchmark for Excellent Cheddar. no Fiddle-Faddle , Jibber-Jabber , or Huffing-Puffing. and right there in front of you.

    4th of July

    for the 4th rather than a Dog eating competition , ( 70.5 + bun this year ) it should be 4th Deviled Egg Comp. @Shelby's I can eat-em faster than she can make-em. ( maybe up to 10 = 5 eggs )

Yes! I just bookmarked it and I need to write it down just in case it disappears off the internet.

Shove some my way while you're at it! More to the point...do you have a link to the bun recipe you used? I'm not on low-carb but occasionally need something that would fit that requirement.

Awww that's so nice of you!!! I'd shove some through the computer screen to you if it was possible!
  21. I'm not a regular Trader Joe's shopper because I rarely have the opportunity. That said, I can promise you that the Double Chocolate Croissants are wonderful. Little else of what they reviewed appeals to me either, although I like getting their cheeses. Can't remember whether I've tried any of those mentioned, though.
  22. I saw that yesterday. Of that list, I’ve tried 3 items: the Unexpected Cheddar and Le Delice de Bourgogne cheeses are both excellent. I thought the Taki-dupe rolled chili lime tortilla chips, that are a fan big favorite, were awful. One bite and binned. Of the rest, I’d try the double chocolate croissants as the other versions (plain, almond, chocolate) I’ve tried have been excellent. I’d also give the kimbap a try if I needed something like that. Nothing else on that list even remotely appeals to me. Not really surprising. I’m a regular TJs shopper and a big fan but have no interest in at least 80% of their offerings!
