Another option, is for everyone to clean out their miscellaneous paper goods (I think this should be in addition to someone bringing just enough for everyone as outlined above), that way there'd be extra plates too. I know I have some Cinco De Mayo party plates in the back of my pantry...

i'll bring a buncha bags. also will clean out extra plates and forks and stuff.

To Summarize Curdnerd's post/rules:

  • 1. No Dogs.
    2. Making mac & cheese.
    3. Kids Welcome - someone needs to organize some kid activities and parents need to supervise them at all times
    4. We're going to be using lots of small tents.
    5. Cheese Shop will be open for the first hour or so of the event.
    6. place marker. (perhaps a cap on the number of people? or parking instructions?)

Other notes:

  • 1. We must completely clean up after ourselves. Everyone bring an extra bag or two and leave with some garbage, please.
    2. Tents (not camping tents, party tents), tables & chairs -- the more the merrier.
    3. The pig is $4 per person (kids count)
    4. Remember to check the RSVP list for what you offered to bring -- and before posting that you are thinking of bringing baked beans, I think two people making baked beans is enough.

i don't know how many people are bringing coolers, but i'm sure if everyone just threw a couple of bags of ice in, we'll be fine.  unless there's a need for ice that i'm not thinking of.

Excellent suggestion, tommy. If you are bringing your food in a cooler, take note of above.

The menu, so far.* If you are still trying to figure out what to bring... I think we are short on veggie (not starchy) side dishes. Also, we need bread. Some iced tea and lemonade would be nice. More appetizers.

this is subject to change between now and the week before the pig pickin:

spicy marinated olives (99% chance this WON'T be taken off the menu)

French kisses (prunes and figs/dates, depending on what I can get)

Oven roasted tomatoes (sliced tomatoes that have been seasoned with sea salt, cracked black pepper, EVOO and spices, then roasted until caramelized and slightly shriveled)

i'll bring some sarcone's for bread.

i'll also bring a self-infused vodka.

i can easily bring chinese dumplings, if the peanut gallery deems it desirable.

Herb, what kind of dumplings were you thinking about? I'm down for dumplings, pie and non-alcoholic drinks.

With so many people, will it really be a problem if there are multiple potato salads, beans, or pies? I think not! I mean, who wants to schlep 25 pounds of perishable food for 75 people?

However, as the day grows nearer, and the count gets higher, people can PM me for quantities to make if you really, really want to bring enough for EVERYONE.

Thank you, Rachel, for keeping the list, the count, and the menu. You are beyond rubies (NO I DON'T MEAN HER!!! )

Whazzat?

This?

Yeah, that's the stuff. Fabulous bread and the very best hoagie places in Philadelphia will only use Sarcone's bread and rolls. Crusty outside with a decided snap to it, soft inside. Great stuff and probably the best thing in the world for sopping up picked pig.

With the prospect of tasting something infused with... someone?

Actually, it has been kind of slow around here.

of course.

who wouldn't want a vodka infused with a pound of flesh?

you know elyse,

right now as we're going back and forth with this,

this sounds like a grown up version of the 4 year old boy eating bugs just because it grosses out the 4 year old girl next door.
