@Smithy, as I was typing this, I got an email from Goûter saying shipping to my address would be $55 for one Pannetone, $65 for two and asking if I wanted a payment link.

I heard from them today also, and got the payment link, and have ordered!

1 Traditional, 1 Triple Chocolate, same as last year. I wanted to try the SOMA chocolate also, but decided against it. Maybe another time, if there is another opportunity.

I have asked for a quote for

  • ONE Panettone "Three Chocolates" 1kg
  • ONE Panettone "Apple Pie" - 500g
  • ONE Quebec Tourtière - 6-8 servings

Yum, yum, yum.

Well, she was unsure if the Tourtière would survive shipping, so the order was changed to ONE "Three Chocolates" and TWO "Apple Pie" Panettone. Money sent this morning.

I ordered one apple pie and one SOMA panettone.  As @ElsieD said, they’ll ship after Dec 15.

Their apple pie is terrific.

I got a UPS email for a delivery tomorrow from USM CT CO BULLETPROOF MIDWEST which seems to be a logistics company handling shipments from Canada so maybe Goûter panettone is on the way sooner than I expected!

I got an email from Goûter a couple of days ago that my order had been released to Purolator, but I still haven't heard anything more! It doesn't help that "Purolator" sounds to me like an oil filtration system. 😆

Purolator is a Canadian shipping company.  Your parcel is in good hands.

Thanks. In fact, their virtual assistant just told me that the panettone is expected to arrive Dec. 16. I feel better!

I'd like to reorder this year depending on the tariff situation.

I was told my panettones would ship by Purolator Thursday 11 December.

Jo, my invoice from Goûter stated that I'm responsible if there are any tariffs.

I will be interested to find whether we end up having to pay some tariffs. Hope someone who receives a panettone does let as know!

And you haven't received anything saying you owe money for tariffs? It's not actually tariff - it's the courier collecting money to check and make sure something isn't subject to tariff.

fascinating....

I think it's a whole lot like 'which soft boiled egg is best'

unless one has all the 'candidates' available on the table . . . to evaluate . . .

there's 'good stuff' and 'not so good stuff'

like, Dude . . . how "good" is "good?"

how "good" is "best?"

I'm on the side of "artisan" is always better that "mass production" -

which actually provides an easy way to differentiate 'so-so/bad' from 'good' to 'superb'

I'm spoiled, the imported ones that my BIL brings during the holiday season are so good...they aren't hand made, but good quality. A local Italian deli had an Instagram reel showing shelves upon shelves of imported varieties, I'm trying really hard to stay away. BTW, I had the brilliant idea of using two pieces to make an ice cream sandwich, like how they sell gelato in brioche in Italy. (oink oink)

The NYT Wirecutter listed their favorite panettone here:

https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/reviews/best-panettone/

Not sure if there’s a paywall or not.

No paywall.

The top sentence is "We tried 18 panettone that cost under $65 for our 2025 update."

Let me stay that a very, very small number of offerings were less than $65. 😜

Yeah, they tried 33 total and it seems like the under $65 group were less represented in the top tier!  I might give the $7 Aldi version a try.  Should be fine for French toast!
