Get it right - the bathroom door lock

I can't believe how many restaurants have bathroom door locks with "twist the little knob to lock or unlock". If you go to any hardware store, you will see that bathroom door locks always have a pushbutton to lock, and unlock when you turn the knob. But of course the really best thing if you care about your customers is a plain knob with no lock, and a separate airplane bathroom door type lock (except usually they rotate rather than slide) that shows "VACANT" in green or "OCCUPIED" in red. I mean, why not respect your customers, and why make your staff endlessly try the door handle (picking up germs) in order to find out of the bathroom is free?

This would be great for a large household, too.

Man... talk about first world problems. :P

Sorry but I find the notion of "really caring about your customers" being reflected in the type of lock used on the bathroom stalls/doors a bit over-the-top. But carry on... I'm actually kinda interested in seeing where this goes.

OK, this is moving far, far away from being food-related. Not that that's a bad thing.

Not all that far... food goes in, food goes out.

Exactly. What I want is equal access to the bathroom. In most large buildings, the mens' bathroom has twice as many fixtures as the womens'.

Just sayin'.

(And it is food-related in one refrains from using that restaurant because of the bathrooms 😛 )

Round here we consider ourselves fortunate if the bathroom has a door!

I recall places where it was fortunate if the door had a bathroom.
